Gardening Woes : FFXI General Discussions

So I planted 10 tree cuttings last week in 10 porc. flower pots. For the first day I got the "Growing Well" message. But now all i get is the plant isn't doing well. They are on their 5th day and I was told not to feed the crystal until 7 days after planting. I've been checkin on them at least once every JP day, but mostly twice, and am still gettin this message. I have 4 items in my mog that give me gardening enhancement also. Any ideas?

That's normal. Just keep checking them every day.

Unfortunately I heard gardening results from tree cuttings have been changed recently so don't freak out if you get some crap instead of saplings.

Actually, I will back that up...

My LS friend was getting pissed off and shouting in the LS chat because he spent 2 weeks checking his plants, and only 6/8 became saplings. He barely made any money at all and was ready to kill someone...

I've been gardening a year. I have three mules that I garden on, one in San d'Oria, one in Windhurst and one in Bastok. I always use 22 maple tables in my MH, I wear harvesting gear whenever I plant and when I check twice a day, once on firesday and once on either iceday or darksday, depends on which comes first while I'm logged in. I also plant on either darksday or firesday. I NEVER feed crystals to my cuttings if I want sapplings. If you feed them, you are not going to get sapplings. It has never failed, I ALWAYS get an average of 18-24 sapplings from 10 pots. I've never gotten less or more. When I harvest I do not wear my harvesting gear and I try to harvest on firesday and on a full moon. Using the 22 tables usually afords me the time to wait on a full moon. Regardless of when you harvest them though, as long as you didn't feed them crystals, you will get at least 1 sappling per pot. Hope this helps.
