Hmm. war outdamaging Dark? Im sorry but i haft to strongly disagree.. You haft to remember that A drk can still have most of the same skills war depends on with it Subbed, And if they have Thf sub.. well you do the thinking, Also dont forget drks can cast Black Magic! thats right! they can cast black magic betweeeen their attacks, Thats why they have such a long delay.

As for drg.. Well they can be a good job but no one really likes them in a party post 40 or so, Because they are gimped.. I wont go to far into it but you try and ask a lvl 50 drg or so and ask how often he gets party invites... Unless you have a set party being a drg is really hard And i give mad props to any lvl 75 drg.

And for sam. I myself am a Sam and what i know about sam is.. they arent Heavy dmg dealers.. You can say they are no matter what and yes their WS might add up a bit, But the true strength of a SAM is to open up Oportunities For other People in your party to Renkai.
If you add up all the extra dmg you would be getting from Renkai's and MB then maybe they might be doing as much as a Drk or what not but just a pure sam byhimself cant do THAT much

And for rng... Well everyone loves a ranger! They are the best puller's in the game (well duh!) And they do MASSIVE dmg, Have you ever tried to hold hate against a good rng? withought a blm? oh damn its hard lol, But thats what you get for the price you pay!, Rangers are by far the most expensive job in the game (especially to be a good one).

From what i seen and been told by my lvl 70 blm, he says blm do more dmg then rng at higher lvl (not sure he might just be biased )

So.. for my fav class i would haft to say Sam (go up 3 paragraphs to see why) but besides them... i like ................... WHM! we all know we would never be able to survive withought a whm lol. Oh and bst is fun

well i think rng still do the most dmg thru the whole battle. cuz rng do not need to rest and can keep dealing high dmg while blm deal a higher dmg once in a while. using ancient magic or something.

Hmm. Id have to say being a free moogle would be the best job, we all know how strong they are...if one was free to do what he wanted...ouch.

a lvl 49 drk has 111 mp, that does almost no damage. Thats why i think plds and drks are worthless advanced jobs, and for a pld my lvl 30 war has the same defense when using defender as a pld.

ok IMHO i think nin are the most exp if u wanna go all out on them. they have VERY exp throwing weapons. thats all i have to say

you mus thave the most sorriest equiped DRK and PLD in your server cause post 50+ WaR can't hold hate period.....
and don't even bring up the subject of enmitiy gear

In my personal opinion DRG is the best job.. I realize that it does less dmg then drk or sometimes war with GA but don't forget our Jumps and our wyvern who can add hundreds of dmg per fight (w/ breaths) spread the word drg is a strong job if worked right!

I think that RDM is the 2nd best solo job in the game only to BST of course, but I mean a 75 RDM/NIN can pretty much solo anything in its path. I also know for a fact that DRK out damages a WAR, but I guess it depends on equip. The one job I don’t really get though is DRG, it doesn’t really have a place in the world of FFXI, it does ok dmg, but a war can do more and tank, DRG have pretty much no defense so tanking isn’t a good idea, sure they have a wyvren and can jump, but what are they good for?

After lvling BLM to 75 in two chars, BST to 67, SMN to 67 and I can't keep track of the jobs I've on the 40s (SAM, THF in both chars, WHM in both chars, RDM in both chars... ) must say... BST is great {fun} and {excitement}.

So to answer your question, BST is overall the best job.

BST is the best overall solo job, but if you want to work in a group, do some of the group missions and quests, then i think ur out of luck, thats why most of the people i know only lvl BST as a secondary job once they hit 75 already so they can still do the BCNMs and other stuff like that. But let me tell ya, man, a BST in ballista....well.....ill leave it at this.....never try to outrun a tiger....

I must partially agree with you. The biggest problem with non-solo BST affairs is that they have certain prerequisites that are usually non available for new players.

The first prerequisite is an open mind, and that's something it takes time to find in this game.

The second is static party for lvling (if you want to exp along with regular jobs) and an static party for missions (I have taken the BST as far as Al'Taieu and Sky so whoever says BST is non viable for Promathia/Zilart is wrong, period. It just takes a different approach, that's all).

For BCNM disgracefully I don't have a universal answer. I have found some that are BST friendly and some that are not. But I don't think is a matter of the job being suited for it or not, I think is just a matter of me not being intelligent enough to figure out how to make the job useful under the given circumstancies... and after two or three orbs wasted I usually give up and go as SMN or BLM.

actually now that i think of it, ive seen a BST solo a BCNM20 before (Wings of Fury). hmm....maybe i should write a guide on that, another petty attempt to get a free membership.
