PLD/WAR or THF/NIN help me decide :) : FFXI General Discussions

Go PLD. THFs aren't DD, they're used for hate control. THFs get their invites stolen alot post 60 because of melee jobs that have SATA. I have a THF friend who loves his job, mainly because he can solo alot of things. Money-wise, THF naturally makes more than PLD because of farming oppurtunites. If you want to be a DD, go WAR/NIN, DRK, or SAM.

Thank you my point exaclty!

white mage -- flag up ... invite in 10 seconds or less. lol I get invites when I'm not looking to party and when I'm /anon. people remember who the tanks and white mages are their levels and send you /tell's if they can't find one. Sometimes I log on I get an invite before I even have a chance to check my delivery box ... that's less than 10-20 seconds after log on :D

another hint -- get yourself a Tamas Ring and put it in your pt search comment that you have one. JP exp pts like crazy ^^ Can't understand any of there scribble but gotta love 6-10k/hr.

I love playing Thief, but have a miserable time trying to get into experience parties. The only point in my (very short) time as a thief where I got a goos steady flow of invites was between 15 and 18 when people wanted better drops for their subjob quest.

I have fun playing thief. The first few levels are hell though. Get a xbow at 10 and try to keep marksmanship capped. At 25 when you get bloody bolts you can get decent xp soloing, while you wait for invites. Also keep in mind that both ninja and thief are very expensive jobs.

To the OP:

Let me first start off with saying I loved playing thf, but recently retired my thf (lvl70). Theres been many posts about thfs not getting the invites for parties on alla, and even on this thread. It is oh so oh so true...

I thought invites were very bad post 60... maybe 2/week if I'm lucky. Things are even worse post 70. I've seeked for nearly a month with nothing. I'm not going to get into the nitty gritty, but down to it, thf endgame is nothing but a TH biatch. You'll get invited to events only for your TH2/3/4. At first I didnt mind this, at least I was included in events... but when the exclusion comes to BCNM/ENM/Missions... you'll start feeling the reject.

As for farming and making money... you have tons of ways from this site alone. I can count on one hand how many times I've farmed with my thf for the sake of money (Quest items are a different story).

Check this thread:
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/jobs.html ... =80;page=1

The man has explained everything much better than I can, and he is oh so right...

Unless thf gains some skills to increase the invite rate... it would be very difficult hitting 75 (then losing 75 due sack pulls, etc).

OK im done, good luck!

Thfs main purpose is for hate control but they also deal massive damage in WSs and allowing SC damage to do more and MBs. SC damage is a % of closers WS and thfs i see has the highest. I have done over 4k+ dmg on birdies at 75 in lufaise. Thfs purose is for hate control but you can't say they are not DDs. AND there is not alot of "good" thfs in the game. Thats why people put them down alot. Also dagger burns do extreamly well. I liked playing thf alot better then other DDs.

qft. Thf is not only a wicked dd they are also a challenging job with regards to hate control and such. Also Thf can solo quite will with its high evasion and pretty high Marksmanship skill. Thf's main damage tho is WS, because on Exp mobs thfs DoT can be pretty low at times.

Thats pretty much what I just stated. >.> And thf is not a easy job at all, although i think its the funnest job you can play on that game.

Over 4k in Lufaise? My !@#$%^&* !@#$%^&*. That is such a BS lie.

Mediocre at best.

I am a very well geared THF with 80+ merits, but let's face it, I'll still get out-DDed by a MNK or another similarly upper tier DD. That's just the facts of life.

THF is still a fun job, but it's not the uber DD you may be looking for. Leveling THF for farming is pointless, you'll be disappointed.
