And still crashing out before the game launches?

In the ffxi config tool, set your game resolution to 640x480, buffer to 512x512. In gamepad settings, uncheck Enable Gamepad.

In plugins (in the xu plugins tab) remove (by dragging to the uninstall line) the ffxiservice and ffxi radar plugins.

In options ( in xu options) check Ignore DirectInput. Uncheck Hook DX9.

My log is the exact same thing as odoyle, also tried all of the above suggestions and still no dice.

Using Psx to usb converter if that makes a difference. Here is the log:

I'm gonna add some code to completely block out any DirectInput at all. And then we'll see if it helps or not.

i wish you had a voice chat on the site or something lol to make this easier so i dont have to sit here and hope i get a response thank you for the help

Ok I just updated some code. This will determine if it is in the DirectInput code or elsewhere.

Make sure that gamepad IS NOT checked.
Make sure that Ignore Direct Input IS checked.

That will prevent any hooking/peeking/loading of any DirectInput files on the XU side.

If you still get a crash, we know its not in that set of code and we can begin to look elsewhere.



EDIT: Thats a good idea. We used to have a flash chat on the site but took it off a couple of years ago. I should find it and get it back on just for things like this.

holy hand jobs bat man it worked!!!!! thank you a ton. now will i be able to go back and set my screen res to old settings and enable my controler? if possible can you post a pic of your setting so i know mine are what i need. thank you after days of waiting i finally get to log in woot

The good news is that we found out the problem is somewhere in the DI code in XU.

The bad news is that with DI turned off, you will have gamepad issues when you move from ffxi to a different window, and back to ffxi. If you play ffxi full screen it shouldnt matter.

I'm glad we have narrowed it down. You can adjust settings and let me know what you find out.

Tomorrow I'll reinstall a flash chat and we can see if we can fix it so that gamepad is working as it should and not having to just turn it all off.

ok i put the settings baack to normal but i havve to leave hook gamepad unchecked to get it to work, if not im still freezing up but not getting an error

So you still have to have Ignore Directinput checked?
