Swimming speedboost : DFO - Premium - Discussions

This usually works, though there are a few places it seems I can't seem to make it work.

Do as follows.

1. Press AUTORUN (default NUMLOCK)
2. Run towards the ocean. When you're just about to enter the water, jump into the water.
3. You will probably be submerged. Press NUMLOCK again to surface.
4. Press NUMLOCK again to resume swimming.

Do not press any directional keys or shift - that will end the speed. The speed will be the same as normal running on land.

It sometimes also works just by autorunning into the sea.

Try it out!

I might steal your bucks on this one and post it the way it really works:

Press Autorun before entering the water. (Do NOT hold shift for sprint)
Just run into it and notice your swim speed is identical to your runspeed.
The moment you hit shift to swim faster it will break and can not be resumed until you go onto land again and reenter as described.

The reason behind this is that DF keeps the speed you are moving at until you modify your speed.
You can see this vice verse when you swim normally (without shift) while going out of the water. You will resume your low swimspeed on land until you hit shift once.

On top of this there is another swimming bug that will actually let you swim EVEN faster. Sadly it seems to be unstable or not completely tracked down to how it is triggered.
When you have your wepon unsheathed (Third person view), and you enter the water with Autorun (no shift), you will have a small chance to move even faster in water. I am still tracking this down, so for the moment just take it as a "once in a while" thing please.

So what you're saying is, just autorun into the water? How is that stealing the points? Look at what I wrote:

It doesn't always work. In my experience, jumping (as described above) has given the speedboost when regular autorunning hasn't. Therefore I think it has a slightly higher chance of success.

I dissagree. From my experience you will ALWAYS keep running speed if you move in with Autorun. Also strafing won´t break it.

I guess I just have to concede that we're not going to agree about whether or not it always works then ;)

Strifing doesn't break it, I agree with you there. But stopping and using W to swim again, does break seem to break it - though I haven't tested this extensively. Stopping and using autorun again, does not seem to break it.

Some of our tests show that hitting the water at a certain angle allows you to swim super fast.

Still kind of trial and error, I don' t know the exact angle but I have gotten it to work. There were no sprint tricks involved.

I haven't had time to test this more as I have been doing finals, but maybe some of you guys can take a few cracks at it.
