I guess it really depends on how your brain is "wired". To some people, wow is really not that addictive, and to others its a way of life. There is a lot of controversy over if games are addictive or not, I personally think most of it is just bullcrap. The best argument ive ever heard is that when playing video games, some people's brains will release endorphins, much like how a runner experiences a "runners high", giving them a natural high (that you cant OD on) that feels good. Some people will get hooked, not unlike a drug addict, to the endorphins and in turn play the game because it makes them feel good and lets them forget about their troubles. So, really its not the game their addicted to, its the endorphins. The game is just merely a drug dealer. After so much playing, the endorphins stop getting released and the brain says "f this" and you dont feel like playing anymore and move onto the next game. I cant recall where I read the article but it was well written and convincing. And, of course, this doesnt cover all situations, but some. This can also apply to other activities.
