Do you think mages should be nerfed? : World of Warcraft General Discussions

Since the beginning of time, Mages have always been the best, people are always complaining that "Mages are better then me", or "a mage beat me in a duel, so ima go cry", all of this is worthless, if blizzard nerfed the mages, there wouldnt be as much complaining and wasting time. This is what brings me to my poll question -

overpowered this, overpowered that, every class has strengths and weakness's, if you cant beat a mage, duel another class, but god, if you want all classes to be completley equal go join another mmo

people always will think in every game xxx job is overpowered and want it nerfed. many times its a loop between jobs of what they think needs to be nerfed.


mage: that pld has xxx ability which can kill me. NERF IT!!!
pld: that war has an ability that can really hurt me. NERF IT!!!
war: that rogue has an ability that can kill me. NERF IT!!!
rogue: that priest has an ability that wont let me hurt him. NERF IT!!!

dont take what i said above there literally. i was just choosing random jobs and saying xxx other job had a good ability. every job will think another job is more powerful and needs to be nerfed

no they shouldnt be nerfed, i think all classes should stay the way they are! pallys are really annoying though because they have two lives (wait to get to really low health, divine shield, then heal) and they can heal, and wear plate, so i think that they are the best, but only by the tiniest bit so i think that all up all of the WOW classes are about even

Ok well lets get 1 thing straight a Duel is not really considerd a fight you see. Lets say im a rouge and im gonna fight well a mage


First thing the mage Knows im gonna go stealth and constantly looks around me using low grade AOE spells or teleporting. Now a mage on Hourde side and im a Rouge alliance and i see or find a mage out in the open for PK its a tottaly differant thing because they wont be ready for you. All class's can beat each class the game is systematically balanced for PK PVE and Dueling its just a mtter of if hes better then u or your better then him.


To me dueling = Waste of time

Im a rogue and I tear through mages all the time. Kinda feel sorry for the little guys.

It is annoying though when you become disoriented and wander around as they range attack you. A lot of times I carry a Free Action potion on me and use it if im about to encounter a mage.

I think a lot of mages carry grudges against rogues. Ive been ganked and attempted ganked by several mages higher than me. Just yesterday some mage who skulled ?? to me killed me 4-5 times in Gadgetzan even though he himself kept getting killed by the guards. At last he did some huge ice spell and one shot killed me then teleported away before the guards could get him.

Mages are nowhere close to overpowered, but they are powerful, Fighting melee is pretty easy, fighting another caster is tougher, fighting a not retarted warlock/shaman is pretty hard

Only mage full tier2 is overpowered. They crit more than 2k and have like 40% crit chance :S
Anyway, some mage hit me over 3k once, just a pyroblast

yea mages can do lots and lots of damage =( but so can trinkets =D (gnomish death ray!) once crited 3987 with it =P

Mages have their pros/cons just as all classes do. If something breaks or resists Frost Nova, the mage is screwed - Mana Shield sucks honestly. Mages are fairly balanced, just because you can't beat them doesn't mean that they need a nerf.

im with zard =P all classes are even and none need to be changed (i would like it though if blizzard added a new class, taht would be awesome)

I absolutley think that mages are overpoweres, espeicaly frost mages, and in the expansion they get invisibility, wtf ?

Anyway i think most of the problems can be fixed with the cooldows, mages bascily need higher cooldowns for things like polymorph and frost nova.

they not overpowered, they can die really easy, a rogue can absolutly pwn them if they get the drop on them, also hunters and any other long range person could kill them, it all depends on the person playing

any job can kill any job if the opportunity presents itself. in some cases its harder than others because they are at a disadvantage while others have no trouble killing the other job. as the topic says though this is personal opinion on what you vote. i think that bliz has done a pretty good job to balance the jobs overall. much better in ffxi has in many instances.

No! I have played a shaman, hunter, warrior, rogue and mage all to 60 and all I believe are balanced. Mages are probably THE most balanced class in the game. Sure, they do massive amounts of damage, but also have you heard of all the one shottings? a warlock can shadowbolt fear shadowbolt, which is basically 1 shotting since there is no way to stop it. A hunter can aimshot multi-shot and that kills a mage. a rogue can beat a mage if they use vanish a pally can own a mage with blessing of freedom. The people that are whining just need to l2p. all classes are balanced. Period.
