Blaz's tool? No, i used Acid's first release of his packet dumper and decrypter. I haven't done any packet sniffing in ages now. I stopped because it started getting a little out of my leage. I mean, i've done some MMO packet cracking and hacking in my time but EQ2 had me going around in circles.
Yeah i remember coming across the same sort of thing. I couldn't find any info on the windows crypto system except for the syskey system used in winXP to encrypt local user login info (password).
I really doubted there'd be much to hack so i stopped, plus it was going into cryptography, and thats not really my area. Who knows, maybe it retrieves a seed from your computer and sends it to the server. From there the server uses some equation to deduce which player gets what, based on the seeds from each players computer. I doubt the windows crypto system has much to do with anything, just a good way to get a truely random number. The key in the reg probably changes because EQ2 is telling it to, for when the next time you form a group the number will be different.
If all my squabble was actually true that'd mean there just be no way to hack the lotto system. Though that doesn't explain the apparent pattern that you do sometimes win at a supernatural rate. Maybe the right number under certain circumstances comes out on top. *shrugs*
