Not true, the only book I've ever read was The Hobbit, which was at school nonetheless. LotR has never held my interest until I saw this game. It's not just for LotR people. :P

This game is awesome. I have only played SP RPG's, never ventured into the online realm until this game. Now I'm a casual LOTR fan, but not hardcore basically a fan of D&D in general and this game definetly grabs your attention. I have to admit the fact that you can do alot of single play is a hook for me, but I'm starting to interact with others. The biggest reason I tried this game is the fact that there is no PvP in the regular game world only cooperative play, so you don't have to worry about being ganked as soon as you enter the world. I do have a couple of level 10+ characters, which allows you to go to Ettenmoor where Monster play (PvP) will occur, even though you can't go as your player character until you hit level 40, so nobody but monsters are there now, but it lets the PvP crowd get their "jones" without everyone having to be in a group to play regular game. You can join fellowships for as long or short as all the members want. There are quests where you have to have group to play. All and all it seems to be a cool world, hopefully for years to come.

Just one more thing, I saw a complaint from someone playing the game last night that their head hurt from having to think so much to solve quests and I think that is actually one of the games selling points ... although it is fun and has plenty of action, you have to think to play the game (especially by yourself) well. And this long-time gamer thinks that is a good thing!!!!

i love LOTRO because of the role-playing. I still want player housing and more rp elements though :)

Has alot of the same aspects of WoW but it also has totally different ones to. i dunna I am also a hardcore MMO'r and have dabbled in pretty much everything and this has to be in like the top 4. it will be even better when i get a new comp in a week :-\

Personally I find LOTRO to be too basic. I will say though the Monster system that I keep hearing about is absolutely revolutionary. I wish more mmo's would copy LOTRO's Monster system.
