From what I've read it's pretty much a 50/50 shot at desynthing an item with a few bonuses due to moon phase and day of the week matching the crystal you are using. Other than that, expect alot of breaks! Get yourself Desynthesis support for your Mog Enhancement also!

I reread the first thread and noticed that "The most reliable way to get a desynth is when you are no more than 10 skill levels above the desynthing cap." How is this so? Wouldn't you HQ more frequently as you gain higher in level just like synthing? Breaks are a given but I noticed I get less breaks as I get higher in Lvl.

steellphie, I've wondered this myself. From what I've seen with goblin masks(the only thing I've desynthed a lot, unless you consider the meteorite a desynth) there really doesn't seem to be much of a differance with success rate at lower lvl vs higher lvl, but definately a differance how much high quality success you get at higher lvl.

You want another good desynth? If you want to call it that.

It caps at lvl 62 alchemy, and it does give you increases quite frequently. It also didn't seem to fail a lot. I'm talking about....

The meteorite from West Sarutabaruta(sp). This only drops from crawlers that spawn on and at the base of the hill named Starfall Hillock. My old lvl 57 thief that got deleted used to have lvl 60 alchemy and while I farmed silk to finish off my lvl 60 cloth crafting with her, I would turn a LOT of meteorites into glass fiber. The regular success is 3 loops with a +1 getting 6 if I'm not mistaken. With +2 treasure hunter I would often get 2 drops in a row, so synth the meteorite immediately if you deside to do this, as it is a rare drop.

Please do a simple Google search before asking questions (that are easily findable) in a thread that is well over 2 years old.

found in apporximately 2 seconds: http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/furniture.php

Please, for the sake of humanity, use your god damn brain.

well i wouldnt say its 10 lvls. but i have noticed a dramatic decrease in success rates of desynthing when you are way way way too high. for example im a 60+ goldsmith and when i desynth silver rings / silver earrings / mythril earrings i end up failing everything. with maybe i NQ out of 10. i am a little saddened by this because it was my best money maker and now I am stuck at lv 60 with the crappy platinum market now with massive undercutting happening i have no idea how I am going to fund my goldsmithing. beware about leveling too fast. this 10 lvls above cap is confirmed.
