Ok the pros and cons of anti-cloak...
1) You can see/target spies (ofc), but you cannot attack unless you legitimately see them.

2) Noone can see you targeting the spy except people who use this cheat too (Possibly GM's too so be careful).

3) Gives BH's a good chance at revealing spies accurately.

4) Allows profs to anticipate spy attacks.

5) Commando's can use free-target weapons to kill a spy who's cloaked with pin-point accuracy.

6) Anti-Cloak can be used to make sure no-one is watching you hacking PvE stuff or w/e like walkin through walls, laghacking passkey doors.

WOOT, and if one plays this well, he/she won't be to obvious.

I would be inclined to think this would be common sense but someone will get themselves in trouble. lol

Going to piss off a spy or two lol.

Now see, if one isn't careful and seems to always, or almost always "anticipate" a spy attack, then there are going to be spies that go crying to GMs.

5) Commando's can use free-target weapons to kill a spy who's cloaked with pin-point accuracy.

No more pray and spray ;P. Commando's can start using the "force" to assist in targeting ;).

6) Anti-Cloak can be used to make sure no-one is watching you hacking PvE stuff or w/e like walkin through walls, laghacking passkey doors.

Yeah this def would be handy.

I cannot really decide on the anti-cloak, because what if you played spy, and your cloak doesn't help you at all? Spies have pretty much no defense if you think about it, their more of a DPS class.

The problem was last time when the Anti-Cloak exploit was available for everyone people who were already Spies just modified their expertise to get Reveal Shadows, which will pretty much always get a Spy regardless if they're in the radius. I don't really see that becoming too much of an issue though. Last time it was live I was Spy at the time and didn't have any problems. The only time I ever had it be an issue was with another Spy who was using it would run right up to me, (I could see them ofc), and we just stood there for a few minutes on top of each other. Plus, if I saw a Spy chasing me when I was going for someone else, they don't necessarily know that you're using it too, so you can just be a little quicker on popping off a cloak/decoy when they hit you - or you could hit AD right before they attack you and make them waste ambush/prep.

This hack will not let you pre empt a spy. It will only let you see them. With that said, you can stand on them and try your pop them out. You can not put them in combat until either you pop them or they attack someone.

It's totally up to eVc to as to what he releases.
Seeing your enemy, and being able to, cut them off at the pass, so to speak is the same thing as pre-empting. I dont play a spy, but I know spies have their role. Yes, they are annoying. Yes, they do irritate the hell out of me. But in knowing where they are at at all times is a bit much.

Yes, you can put them into combat if you use free-targeting weapons and shoot at their location (and I know many who will use the hack will do this).

I dont agree with releasing the anti-cloak portion.

Thought i'd give you a headsup on the lengths S.O.E will goto lol
+ They check this forum either directly or by members of the swg community.

+ They will check your profile information, location etc. They lookup your forum name in there account database and see if they get a result.. if so they check for other accounts with that same IP address.

+ They will ban every account your ip address has accessed if you are thought to be distributing the hacks (discovered via ingame tells and these forums).

+ If they suspect you of hacking they supposedly attach logging scripts to your account and analyze it (According to the Customer Service Manager, Timothy Vick).

So remember, if you hack..

1) Don't use the same IP Address as your main account when using trials etc.

2) Don't name any characters/accounts or email addresses containing your forum name.

3) Don't mention your forum name etc in tells.

4) Be wise..

On a side note.. im working on another feature to my development library.

I call it 'Pax4Hax', what this does is allow you to modify packets before the game compresses/encrypts's and CRC's the packet.

It also allows you to parse incoming packets just after the game decrypts em so you can read tells etc via external apps/bots.


Example: Heres me hacking the ent buff to give 7650 luck (yea i know its nerfed but was an ideal testing packet since i would get a discrepancy warning from the server.)

It's still in early stages atm but alot can be done with this if the data is parsed correctly. It's also future-proof against any algorithm/encryption changes etc as it hooks onto the games core functions that need the packets in non encrypted form.

nice debate we have here. evilfigment, all the stuff you're proposing sounds great. i am alway excited to see a new exploit, but not when it comes to pvp. not to mention people are just too stupid, they wig out and use these new exploits in pvp to get that revenge, often with complete overtness and general disregard. so as was mentioned before, this would be great for pve and instances and i would like to see it released, but how do you keep out the morons? ya can't i guess. :(
