Well I joined just to submit my cheat.

You can get a transport ship to jump sooner using a after burner module. Immediately after selecting your destination to jump to, hit the after burner and switch it back off again. This should give your heavy ship about 60seconds of boost, and which point when the after burner shuts off you will make the jump. It can save a few seconds at each gate if done correctly.
