RDM with the Worst luck. : FFXI General Discussions

MY life in this game has been nothing but a bunch of death and Ls hopping.
lost about 30k xp doing limit one. Soloed af pants pay 75 k for each of the other keys. Between Limit one and AF i dropped about 15 LS.
For limit one I went to over 20 parties for pappy. I lv bst and thf to 50 and my rdm was already at 50. I mostly lot for no more then 200. got pappy 5 moths later..
Got 3 Testimony from Power leveling 2 Bst leveling in the tower. Seat there and cure them -- Both JP players after a hard trying to say what I need I guess they figure it out after they saw me took about 15 min soloing one pot o n my own. Got 3 in like 5 hrs. Everyytime i get one i ran to maat and fight. Beat him on the 3rd fight.

Got in 5 LS and none would help me get Joyeuse. Got in another and another and aonther. All these Ls I dropped only 5 is still standing. Most of them are LS with the same people in them. I always spend more then one month on LS b4 I decided it's not for me. I dont just ask can you plz help then no help and I drop the Ls for people thinking that way. Most of these LS i became one of the Main Event makers. But the idea that RMD can solo about everything goes to people's head.
IF they were that Good of LS they would still be standing.
This post is not a cry for help or whining like some people have already posted.
I just want to know who had the same case of JUJU that I had.
How long you had to wait for AF. Limit one. Your first HNM drop.
Do you always have to go with people going that way and hope yo'll get your turn.

To me your Problem Sounds like You:

A) Have Bad in game friends.
B) Have Bad Link Shells.
C) Whine and Complain.
D) All of the Above.



IM in the lvl 60's with my Bard and I have a Single Linkshell.... That im loyal too, and about 25 Friends. On my list, that I talk to Whenever there on.
I dont think you Talk to 133 of yopur Friends all the time. Or do you stay loyal to one Linkshell... That does mean things.... LOL if i had someone who was on My Flist that only messaged me when they wanted something i wouldent do !@#$%^&* for them.

You seem to be the common factor in all your equations, I'm 73 RDM right now I never paid anyone for keys, help nothing. You seem to join linkshells and think they need to drop whatever they are doing and help you until you get what you want and if they dont you drop the shell, thats not how you get things you want in this game. You can say its bad luck, but its attitude by the sounds of your posting. It took you how long to level rdm? 1-2 months by the sounds of it because you are in too much of a hurry to get things done then to build relationships with people develop friendships that will help you get what you want.

It seems you're suffering from severe PEBKAC issues.
You need to sit down and realize the world doesn't spin around you. With the attitude you show in your post I assume you can count the number of times you've helped someone else on one hand, although you'd probably try to make it two hands.

Short guide to enlightenment:
a) Don't whine.
b) Don't whine about noone wanting to help you.
c) Don't whine about the ffxi economyor looooong time spent looking for party.
d) Don't be a drama queen.
e) Don't be a loot whore.
f) Don't repeatedly beg for help doing stuff.
g) Take time to help others, decent people tend to pay you back in help.
h) Don't blackmail for help by using past given help.
i) Don't help people who never help others, even if they whine.
j) Don't pay others to help you.
k) Perform random acts of kindness like helping someone get an af WITHOUT charging for it. Aka, join af hunt shouts, use the time to skillup a weapon (there's always one).
l) Play the game like a game, ENJOY what you're doing. Make sure you're not causing someone else a less enjoyable game experience.
m) Don't add people to friend list just on a whim, add them to friendlist because they are PEOPLE that you'd love to party with again.
n) Look within yourself, why did you lose 30k doing limit one? That's probably a SERVERWIDE record, other peoples stupidity can't account for all of it.
o) Look within yourself, what would you think about everyone in your linkshell constantly wanting help from YOU camping random item X?
p) Look within yourself, how !@#$%^&* stupid can you be to make a post like the one above. If I met you ingame you'd be on my blacklist within seconds. If I didn't blacklist you on word of mouth which would also be likelly.


A Normal person goes through maybe 2-5 linkshells from 1 to 75. I've been in 2 linkshells and I've logged over 190 days ingame time (that's excluding botting time!). I'm still an appreciated member of both.
In EverQuest I was a member of 3 guilds with 160 days ingame time. (Oh puhlease, make a comment on how I have no life. )

Take a hint, the only common denominator is you. You are the problem, fix it.

Well, I still think you are the problem. Especially if people are willing to help others but not willing to help you.
Oh yeah, use tell to ask for help, asking in LS is prime for ignoring. Using a tell means people feel guilty when they say no, ignoring a ls message implies no guilt.

I do send tells. Lving ninja now cause I'll be a lot more help with it I hope. Besides RDM is kind of bad for me. I like it though for Dynamis and all.

As I said, read your first post again. And think about it being someone you don't know that you know nothing about.

All you say is:
- I'm unable to get others to help me.
- When others won't help me I leave and find a new ls.
- Only japanese and gil sellers are willing to help me. (Please note this means, "only people who don't know about me / have monetary incentive help me";)
- I need a Joyeuse and dumped FIVE linkshells because they refused to help.
- I camped charybdis a lot solo and when I got claim and was trying to keep it claimed for others to come (against the rules) noone would come.

Due to all that I (and probably the two other replies) misunderstoof or mentally blocked this:
Rdm 75 xp 50/44k number of time helped out over 400 number timed got helped less then 20.


Maybe you're an aok chap. But it seems you're doing something wrong.
Due to the high number of people who don't want to help it's fairly commn to help 10 others for every time you get help.

Like, if you want Joyeuse you need to find 2-3 others who wants it and is a ls mate / friend. Then you camp it praying they don't jet if they win lot.
People are also a lot more willing to help 3 people than 1 person alone. Simply as there's a lower chance they'll die.
Or you need to find others like you who are willing to spend a crapload of time camping a NM. (Befriend others who are camping the NM?) If you get a few people who like camping stuff to get items you can get a long way. These people are VERY rare though, most only want to camp the l33t stuffz, and then only when forced.

Your greatest enemy is time, if it takes a long time people will get tired and leave. If you're waiting a lot on pulls people won't stay very long (hello optical hat phenomenon, your case is VERY common for pickup stuff). Due to this I usually pull / help pull to speed everything up.

The most commen way I set up something is:
I find 1 or 2 people who want to help.
The new people find 1 or 2 people who want to help.
And so on until all needed jobs are filled.

Always ask others to help find people.

It's hard getting help on mY server. I have 3 Dynalis LS. ANd @ Original LS a friend LS and one LS casue Some people Saw My message in search and said they had the same problems. So they invited me in. And 8 people in there I know. People that were in previous LS with me People I camp with. I thought It was just me with this but not. One guy that actually strat the LS is a 75 eng/jp Has most the the things I hope I have one day. Kraken club and all - So now we integrating with 2 other jp/en LS Hope it goes well.

I've never claimed to be a nice person but I'm not unreasonable. ^^;

Anyway, what you need to do is find a LS that does stuff because it's fun. Ignore gear. Ignore gear. Ignore gear. *mantra*
Serious, ignore that you don't have item X, Y or Z that others do be they JP or otherwise.

Join others in what they do and play for fun. Set up parties that have the specific goal of getting a few things done.
That's how you get promathia missions done. Set up a group of players that help each other get something done. Don't rely on people who already have it. If you have the base some will help just by their nature, these same people will blatantly refuse/ignore requests or help simply because they're asked so much.
For NM camping you almost must have either people who are interested in seeing you in better gear (damn hard to work up for most people) or people who are also interested in either that NM or other NMs.
But if you only help, never 'get' help you're also letting yourself be abused. (Quite common too, one day they snap and refuse to help at all.) It's better to reply to a request for help with "I'm sorry but I've helped you a lot but whenever you ask you for help you're busy". If there's no consequence to asking for help they'll continue asking for help without returning anything. Which could be your problem if you help so much but never get help.


There's one big problem with FFXI here imho. As parties can be so hard to create people are unwilling to leave a party to help others. Which means if they're in a party they keep it at all costs eventhough they'd want to leave to help. People who are in parties will almost never help unless they're in a party of people they're friends with.
Suddenly leaving a party has always been strongly discouraged in FFXI, to the point where people go linkdead to leave them rather than saying: "I'm sorry but this party isn't working, I'm gonna leave."

Also, please consider that when you see a JP with damn nice gear they started a year before you and had less competition for said items, simply by there being less people around. A year advantage is a VERY big thing, which can be quite apparent if you check NA people who started at JP launch.
