the dead dupe : EverQuest 2 Premium Discussions

Now that the dupe several of you have been using has been fixed, would one of you like to explain it? I assume the one constantly being refered to is the offline selling one. I've seen a few descriptions, but most have been almost impossible to follow, or (if on the SOE boards) get edited by the OP or a mod immediately. If its the shared bank one, then please refrain from disscussing it.

Wow so there really are dupe exploits? Surely they can't be full on item dupes can they? Is it only certain items or what?

i guess ill be lookin around my shared bank accounts for somehow to do this...

Don't bother. The shared bank dupe has been dead for a long time. I asked that it not be discussed because the underlying mechanics of the dupe still exist, and, under certain very very rare, very specific conditions (which are in no way controlable by a player- even with the most outlandish exploit you could imagine) can still be exploited. I won't explain further, other than to say it can only be reproduced when SOE does somthing specific. Somthing they did only a few times since launch, but won't likely do again in the forseeable future. Some of us took advantage of the window (well, at least I did; I don't know if anyone else was quick enough to catch it or not), and have the dupe in place. (which is why I'd rather it not be discussed: you couldn't reproduce it if you wanted to, and talking about it would only lead to it getting fully fixed, which would kill the work I did to set it up).

My story of the shared bank dupe (really a misnomer, but close enough to be descriptive without revealing too much) is a rather interesting one- been very profitable for me, but not without pitfalls, doublecrosses, and getting flat out stiffed. Once the dupe is really really dead, I promise to post a full writeup of the story. AKIK nobody else understands it as well as I do, other than the people who I sold it to (bad idea, btw. If you find a dupe- just sell the coin, no matter how much work it is- unless you get ALOT of money up-front, the odds are you'll get screwed in the end).

its been stated more than once that dupes will not be openly discussed, for multiple reasons. Due to thier rarity, the person who finds it is entitled to enjoy it exclusively. Also, a few dupers would have to work very hard to have any real impact on the game economy. Posting it here would cause an explosion, having a real and irreversable effect on the game and everyone who plays it. We might exploit, but we're not griefers. Finaly, posting a dupe here would guarentee it being fixed in a matter of hours, at the most. Not to mention drawing the wrath of the legal team at SOE.

AFIK reading between the lines on the soe boards, watching plat prices on SE and IGE/PA, and annomolies(sp?) in the 'wealthiest players' list on eq2players.com, and the frequent emergency downtimes this weekend, there is without a doubt a dupe currently on live. Its affecting all servers, and may or may not still be active. IMHO the exploiters are freakin retarded, they are NOT being subtle about this or trying in any way to cover thier tracks.

assuming that since it is dead and no longer works, i can explain how it works now. simple enough. you get 2 accounts. account 1 and 2 both get inn rooms at the same inn. account 1 goes into there in and puts all the items he would like duped into his vaukt (must be tradeable) he then leaves his house. account 2 friends account 1 to there inn room and places a market board inside. account 1 goes into account 2s inn room and access the market board then goes to the vault items tab. account 2 goes to a broker. then account 1 find the first item on the list (cause all the items from his inn room show up as if account 2 was his vault as well) and lists it for sale at 1 copper. account 2 does a search on the broker for the item and buys it, can be a stack or just an item. then account one hits unlist then relist wich allows account 2 to buy it again. and thats how it used to work. and my assumption since i got banned today is that it is some how trackable, though my friends didnt get banned. oh and no it couldt dupe plat ofcourse but how it worked for that is the tier 5 fabled corpse drops, a fragment of bone or somthing like that sells for 1 gold 87 silver so you would just dupe stack after stack of it. and it works for every tradeable item, and every duped item worked as if it was the original. ive used it for months i know for sure.
