Blue Mage and New expansion : FFXI General Discussions

seen someone post on a LS forum about Blue mage and a new Expansion coming out for FFXI... is this true.. did they show videos?!?!?! i wanna see! what you guys think about blue mage.... and if you think the quest to get it... is gonna be hard?

The new job is likely to be called blue mage, but not confirmed ^^;

There is "Supposedly" an ability called enemy skill, where you can learn the monster's ability and use it. Limited to some monsters i think... Eg. Spider web ability, as shown in the trailer.

so he blows fire out of his heart? At least it looks like that. hah

This could be interesting. I guess there'll be a price drop when people start selling off equip from their old job for this new one. But like the hordes of others, i'd liek to test this job out.

DOH! double post.. i hate when that happens! but yea this job should be interesting... wonder if you could do Blu/Nin for tank? Cacoon + Utesumi:ichi = FTW!

Sounds kinda like Gau from FF3 US - the little hunch-back kid that learned enemy abilities...

I have to say - I will be extreamly suprised to see a new job from the expansion. There was a lot of talk circulating about Blue Mage and chocobo ownership BEFORE CoP was released... and you see what obviously happened. I am not saying it won't happen, but I would be very happy if they did open up a new job.

According to Final Fantasy

Blue Mage is like FF7 Matereia Enemy Skill

The way it worked in FF7 was Mob did a Skill on you and you survive Bam you can do it too.

That being said
Blue Mage
Will mostly likely be Similar to

FF3 SNES
Strago's Lore
He did the magic side of Mob skill

Gau's Rage
He did the skill side of Mob Skill

FF7
Enemy Skill

Most likely you have to fight different Mobs which didn't include bosses. Let them do a Skill on you and then hopefully you learn it.

Knowing SE you problaly have to do it about 500 times before learning a new skill lol.

Possible skills to learn are
Bomb Toss
Crab Shell
Blaster
Scissor Cut
things like that

The Blue Mage might also be called
Savage
Pirate
Rage Master
Geomancer
only time will tell
