3 Short Guides That I Hope Are Helpful : FFXI General Discussions

I don't know if these are posted anywhere else on the site since this is my first day here and i haven't done and extensive search of the forums. Anyway here goes...

1. How to cancel the recharge on your Signal Pearl:
First of all use the pearl. Once you've called out the NPC you should see the cooldown timer on the Pearl start to countdown. To reset the cool down head to the nearest Rendevous point and drop your pearl. Click on the Rendezvous point then ask your NPC for another pearl. The cool down on the new pearl should be back at 20:00:00. (I just double checked to make sure it still works)

2.Quick Utsusemi fame guide:(need around 150-200k gil)
This can be done with either your main character or a mule, as long as neither has done their utsusemi quest. First off all, go to Port Bastok and speak With Talib in Warehouse 2 (F-6). Give him the requested zinc ore then see Parraggoh in Bastok Mines (first house on left when you go down to lower level). Once you've completed the quest go buy/mine 100 zinc ores (i had around 105 just in case)then head back to Talib and trade them all to him. Once you're done head to Jeuno and either buy a Kazham airhsip pass or do the quest. Then take the airship to kazham, buy some silent oils/ prism powders and grab a map of Yuhtunga(if you dont have one,http://www.ffxi-atlas.com/ has a nice map) and head down to sea serpent grotto.
Once you're in there you'll only need silent oils for the trip to norg. Just follow the right wall to Norg. Fine Laisrean (H-7) and see if you can grab the quest yet, if not go talk to keal (H-8) for the tonko quest and then head back into Sea Serpent Grotto (to save time you may want to set you hp to norg for a deathwarp, up to you) head out until you reach the door in the wall and then just hug the right wall from there. Eventually you will hit a dead end and then look around for the toolbox and deathwarp/walk back to norg to finish the quest. Now you'll have enough fame to get utsusemi and all other nin scrolls. ..... i have used this strategy twice so it-will- work.

3.Garrison kite
For those who don't know, the best way to win in Garrison and get the most prizes is to kite the last mob in each wave. To do this just have the tank in the party provoke the mob and run around while the mage
s heal the patricians and everyone regains most of their mp and hp. If you do it correctly you should have most, if not all of your patricians and party members left at the end of the garrison.

1. When you drop the pearls now your npc starts not to like you idk what the consequences are but Im sure they suck.

2. Well yea you can do that if you have money and patience. Zinc ores cost about 500-1000gil on my server so not so nice. Aswell they are usually sold out real fast, which can be upsetting >.> You might have more luck getting yag necklaces and trading them in to the Mithra in Windurst Woods. It takes a while but its cheaper idk my opinion.

3. Common knowledge for anyone who has done garrison . . . but I guess its nice for someone who wants to start a group of Garrison Newbs.

the utsusemi trick works, but as ghost said you need to either get cheap ores or necklaces. I did this with my mule a while back when ores were only 400-600 on ramuh. now they are 800-2000 depending oh who or where you get them from (bazaars right outside AH is usually cheapest) Back then I spent around 200k to get the fame and I had a friend help me get the keys. Was a little easier because this mule was my first character ever but only 18thf/1war (yes just got subjob quest when i made my current char lol) But anyways I made almost 3x's that in profit selling the scrolls and stuff from norg quest for a little work everytime i was bored lol. Now if I ever want to play nin on my current character, all I have to do is the quests again to get the scrolls ^^

The easiest way I would suggest to do norg fame for a mule, would be when you see cheap ores with your main character buy them and send them to your mule. May take a while but if you are not hurting for gil this would be the cheapest way to do this other than trying to mine them all lol .. that could be quite upsetting Eventually, you should have enough ^^
