how many suspensions before a permaban? : World of Warcraft General Discussions

i know the topic is purely subjective and situational but id like to hear others experiences, i ask as i was suspended for 72 hours for scamming folks with mail CODs, i had one warning on the account before for "harassment" in game (interfering with questing) but nothing else, my other (main) account was also suspended for 72 hours as well and had no prior issues.

am i now going to get permabanned when im back in game a month later if i slip and utter the word "!@#$%^&*" and some asswipe reports me for it?

i ask because i was looking at the wow account action page "volcano" and it shows

warning
3 hour suspension
3 day suspension
permaban

does that mean i jumped up a level or two and am now one tick from a permanent ban?

in addition i scammed around 15 - 20 people, the most recent being a week and a half or so ago, are they likely to continue to hound me afterwards or is the suspension in punishment for all of the instances i was reported?

in any case pretty lame altogether, every other game ive ever played the staff would tell people tough !@#$%^&* if they fell for a scam, especially one where they get a confirmation window to proceed. if i knew it was this big of a deal id not of bothered, figured if anything theyd tell me not to do it again at which point id stop =P

wow u scammed 15-20 people, must be a pro scammer, I guess most online games that would easily give you a permenat ban, only if they investigate it and highly doubt most even report to the GM they got scammed and !@#$%^&*..

Blizzard works with the 3 strikes your out method, more like the 4 balls and take a walk (and by walk i mean, get outa here!)... however, I am not sure as to the consistency this method applies... perhaps you are redeemed after a few months of good behaviour. And some offenses are taken swiftly by blizzard to ban you there and then (Extensive botting), you will find that the hunter DM Farming video, if caught, would be a straight up 72 hour ban, or more likely a permaban.

Not necessarily...

Now, if you're a repeat offender in a small period of time, yes. But, you can get numerous small suspensions for cursing over time without getting banned. Infact, I've lost my temper and been suspended about 17 times, and I've yet to get more than a 24 hour.

But, if you SCAM or Hack over time, then sure, three strikes, you're out!

But, you can ALSO jump levels. Some things earn you a perma ban. Try going racist on a GM. See how long it is before you buy a new account... Duping, when done in mass, can get an instant ban as well. (I'm talking large scale 500+ gold per hour type dupes)

Just depends on the crime. =)
