My cd-rom drive wasn't even seeing the stupid disk. Then I looked on the box and noticed it requires a DVD-ROM drive!

no, you have to get a dvd rom or download a .iso of it and use something like daemon tools

can we discuss it no because it is warez. but general idea is that a .iso is an exact copy of a cd so you can use daemon tools or something similar to emulate a drive and have the program load the .iso up virtually. no more discussion on this

To be honest, Square-Enix has stated they don't mind people downloading the game as long as you buy a box with the key needed to activate your account / expansion.

Cause, seriously, downloading the expansion without a key is kinda useless.
