"Ways of making gil that noone talks about" <- NO SUCH THING : FFXI General Discussions

No such thing as a hidden method of making lots of gil. There are small ways of making gil such as buying cheap from NPC and selling on AH in a different nation. That method is time consuming and extremely boring!!!!

All the rich people in the game are either high level crafters, constant NM campers, or gilbuyers. And that is 100% true. If they quest to make gil or low level craft or farm, they are NOT rich lol.

Your best bet is to find a few friends you trust and camp big NMs with them daily. By big NMs I mean 21-24 hr NMs. I do this all the time because I think crafting is boring. This method is great if you have multiple accounts so if you have 6 people killing, say King Arthro, then you will get 2/6 of the gil that comes from drops.

Also, stop asking for hidden gil methods because there is no such thing. You guys are absolute idiots and noobs to be asking for !@#$%^&* like this because all high-level players know the truth about FFXI and how hard it sucks the big one

Now good luck, use all the tools on this site's confirmed bots, scripts, and exploits to claim the NMs. It is true, most people don't use hacks but the ones that do are good so you will need all the claiming hacks you can get to be able to claim the NM(s).

I have done my part, now I'm expecting loads of stupid noob flamers and others who will agree with me. So let the conflageration begin !! haha

(Oh btw, I will respond to some of the flamers because I know what I said above this is absolutely true and I don't plan to back down from my statements )

And just for the record, if you aren't making BIG BULK of gil in short amt of time, then you aren't fully utilizing your resources. But I guess we need people like you who go out and farm small items so the high-level players have items readily available at the AH for quests or crafting or whatever else.

One more thing I forgot to mention is a tip for all that are in the mid or low levels and want to make gil. Well the truth is that you guys can't make good until you are high level so I suggest you xp as much as possible and get 60+ so you can camp low level NMs easily on your own. But continue to strive for 70-75 so you can move on to harder ground HNMs.

Most of the things you say are true, and while I think its common sense is something that needs to be said.

When begining you need a way to make gil. So while you like to see Bulks of gil little amounts of gil builds up quick. Also if no way is fast. Then that means that all ways of making gil are going to be slow.

Again I agree but you are talking about 24 hr pops. You also state not to waste time. Allot of times HNM dont drop or are claimed by other groups. While hunting HNM might work for you. They dont for me since I can farm for about 2 hrs and craft for 1 hr put results in AH and log. While you will still be camping for up too 3 to 5 hrs for a pop get it and still waste allot of time because you either wipe or no drop or lose claim or dont get claim at all.

While the hacks and bots are good. They are not needed to get the claim. With the new updates it is very easy to beat botters. But I have to admit they will have an advantage over someone that is not using a bot.

This is what made me reply since it is the only thing that is not true and it does not match with what you say in the 1st place. HNM take lots of time so how are you making BIG BULK gil. Also BCNM and Gods usually drop better gil so why not do those then. Everything takes time in the game. It is all a matter or personal prefence. Allot of Rich people farm and sell those so called small items. Just look at who buys the most expensive thing and you be suprise who the rich ones in your server are. Nothing better than a monopoly on a small item.

I agree with this but to get high they need to make gil. But like you said they should concentrate on lvling as fast as possible and then find ways to farm. Also something you didnt state. When lvling for the 1st time dont get the BEST gear. Get what is available and decent and use food until you get higher and make gil where then you will have the option of getting the Better gear!


Again I agree with most of what you wrote. Just made comments on parts that I didnt agree since I have seen different or my personal preference. EX I have camped Serket lots of times. Have claimed with party 3 times and still not one drop!!

ok this needs to be a CONSTRUCTIVE thread, any flame WILL be nuked. its true all ways of making gil are talked about and yes big gil can be made from 24 hr nms but you also run the risk of waiting 21-24 hrs, + 10-20 mins for kill and get a crystal so you have to wait again for the nm to pop and thats assuming you get the claim.

small ammounts of gil at a time add up and fast. what is one of the main reasons people say jp partys are more efficient(yes this does have a point to gil making)?
#1 they know most of the time how to do their job and well and work together.
#2 they dont fight big mobs for 250 xp and 5 min downtime. between kills. who does that? a lot of NA partys. they would rather kill for "big exp" rather than fast low xp which counts up over time. remember its exp per hour when you level not exp per kill.

now how did the above have anything to do with gil making?
#1you need to know your craft and well and what to make so you can maximize profits. you also need sub crafts so you can make more stuff and cleaper.
#2 lower gil synths make a lot of money if you do them in bulk so you do something which is used a lot and sell it. or you can go for the lesscommonly synthed thing and controll its market.
example: i used to fish up TONS of shall shells, i mean i was pulling up about 30+ stacks a day (pre fatigue thing was added but i have a lot of fishing mules nowadays so i can do it again) so what did i do? i made Shallops Tropicale.
Crystal: Fire
Ingredients: Kazham Pineapple, Shall Shell x2, Selbina Butter, Bay Leaves, Rock Salt, Distilled Water

water was from the NPC, salt was from the NPC, bayleaves where from the AH but they where like 1ka stack, butter was synthed so salt and milk from npc's(keep in mind i could mass HQ this also for gil but i HQ'd it for synthing), and pinapples was from the npc. the ice and fire crystals where bought. thats about.

2k in ingredients (and the ice crystal) + lets say at todays rate 8k for fire crystals so thats 10k total to make your shalops per stack of ingredients (2 stacks in the case of shalls). so i can make 15 stacks total of ingredients and each of those stacks make 12 topicale but it doesnt stack. so it takes 150k investment to synth them all but you could sell a few to make gil and synth more. so thats 180 shalops tropicale you have to sell. i could sell about 150 per day just logging onto my mule account about every 30 mins or so from another computer. occasionally i could sell all of them but some days i didnt. they used to sell sometimes at 10k each back then before i got into it and i raised it to 15k each possibly 20k so lets run all those numbers.

at 10k each its 1.8m per day you can sell. that was a 150k investment so you made a 1,650,000gil profit
at 15k its 2.7m made again 150k investment so a 2,550,000gil profit
at 20k each its 3.6m possible total. 150k investment so 3,450,000gil profit

now thats a lot of gil you could make back then. i dont think shalops topical sell as much as they did backthen. other crafters soon began to join in but almost all of them bought their shalls so i undercut them to hell and was selling as cheap as 5k to get them out of the market. i was still making a big profit but not as big. at that price i was making a 750k profit and i could still undercut more if i wanted. i got them out of the market completly but after i had about 100m from the tropicale i was getting a bit bored so i began to give away gil to friends and ls mates who needed it so nowadays im back to my normal broke self of 5-10m in my bank always because i dont want to make gil much anymore

The max amount of time I have wasted camping a 21-24 hr NM is 4 hours. I logged in, got equip, checked AH, went to camp, waited, and it popped last minute of the 3 hour window. And if you constantly camp one NM, you will have large, steady income in terms of weekly. That leaves you the 20 hours to sleep, work, eat, and do other things in game.

And as Alex said, you don't need the best equip to level up. You should have seen the crappy equip I had when leveling through my first time. I used level 30 equip when i was level 55+. Then I camped 1 NM constantly for 2 months at the droprate of 10% to make enough gil for SH and some other pieces of equip. Resumed leveling and started camping HNMs at 75.

man, this is nothing compared to some people trust me >_< I made Puk roaming pt last night, i'm rdm and on enfeebling/nuking duty, the other rdm was supposed to just cure and buff. trust me or not She had like full AF1 an overall bonus of 2 INT and 50HP-MP+ and she enfeebled with a fencing degen... and let people die. she was level 75.

Only hidden way is to duplicate items to make good gil and wich SE I think put an end to it. But, im not really gonna talk about that.

theoretically duping items would still be possible but it would require alot of time and effort, also someone with very good programing know how. But i really hope it doesnt happen tho, because it will kill the markets on everything.
