This discussion is about Cross-Realm Battlegrounds, which Blizzard is adding in patch 1.12.

Cross-Realm Battlegrounds
For the first time in the history of World of Warcraft, you will be able to face off against players from other realms in the Battlegrounds. Coming in patch 1.12 are cross-realm PvP Battlegrounds, linking Alterac Valley, Warsong Gulch, and Arathi Basin so that players from several realms will be combined into one huge matchmaking pool. Replenish your mana, sharpen your blades, and get ready for some brand-new challengers!
~ from the WoW official site.

Pros: Should be a lot less wait time in queues. Meet people from other servers.

Cons: In battlegrounds if your server is new and you are fighting an older server they'll generally have better gear and better enchants.

Do you think this is a good idea?

Sidenote: They also plan to try and increase world pvp.

Yeah I thought that'd be cool. Wouldn't there be like 50 battlegrounds for each thing up at a time? I also wonder if you'll be able to add people from other servers to your friends list. I remember in SWG you could type in peoples galaxy then their name so you could talk to them.

This will be awesome. Now its a lot less likely that I will be fighting against the 4 twink guilds on my server and finally gives a chance to fight a PUG vs PUG

OMG! i just thought about this. this is going to be an FFA for High Warlord/Grand Marshall wow i can't wait to see who it is going to be =), tons of twinks though =( i like the idea but then again i don't cuz what if you are planning to BG with your friend and you go in seperate BG every time then that would be hard to figure out. Anyway i like more then i hate it (if that makes sense)

So is there a thing right now that lets you talk to someone on a different realm?

This is mostly what I'm worried about, because I play on a pretty new server and I'll be matched with people that are on a lot older servers. They'll slaughter my team I'll bet.

Does anyone have a list of how long the servers have been around?
