how is ffxi? : FFXI General Discussions

looking to maybe start playing FFXI. final fantasy is my fav series of all time. right now i can buy the game + 2 expansions for 19.99, then a 3rd expansion for an additional 19.99, 1 month of play included. is the game worth it? i played anarchy online for awhile, Matrix Online recently (unfortunately MxO is extremely boring unless you're a huge RPer). can i get some opinions?

oh and how popular is this game? another problem with mxo is declining population...want to play a game with alot of people, but not WoW, as i hate those wizardry dragon fairy games (guild wars, everquest, WoW, etc)

The game servers are still quite well populated and with the Xbox360 release there are plenty of newbies starting.
It is a very party oriented game, at level 12+ forcing you to party for xp. The economy has gone down a bit lower now also for lower items due to the new players also, making it a bit more manageble for new players.

I have not played matrix online, but tried everquest, WoW, Lineage2 and DoC. none of them were as good as ffxi i personaly think.

if you wanted to give it a try, gag off the last expansion as you will not use it until you get a bit higher level, and even then its optional.

this game has gotten a boost with the new expansion pack, so if you havent played for awhile I'd suggest doing so now, its quite fun!

Yes! Definitely! There's never a lack of things to do...

Although sometimes, you don't to do them because of the HORRIBLE travel time.

But the new chocobo breeding system should take care of that! ^_^

It's a great game, but it's not accessible for beginners at all. It will take you years to learn how to play it well etc, and leveling is slooooow.

well its only a pain if you dont have level 75 friends to hold your hand. I never played any type of ffxi game in my life and i didnt want to but i tried it out and it came addicting. everything that took people years to get i got in short months. i mean look at the people who got the new jobs to level 75 in less than 10days.. Whether they play alot or not thats not the point.. its still possible to level fast if you choose to do it.

Hehe. The people who did them in 10 days player 18 hours a day minimum, and partied with 5 similarly obsessed friends for the whole time, using the best gear gil can buy.

Only people that can say this are gil buyers.

If you play without cheating it will take you 10 days just to learn the basics of the game. Another 10 days to learn how to make gil. Another 10 days if you are lucky and have allot of charm to make friends that will help you lvl.

Fact about FF11

It is very addicting.
Known fact it takes a long time to lvl.
Another known fact you might go DAYS without a party.
It takes days and months to make gil.

Anyone saying other wise has either not played FF11, bots to much, is gilbuyer so they don't spend the time or work necessary to earn everything, they play way to much and finally they might be stupid.

lol i didnt say anyhing about gettin to level 75 in 10 days when you first start. I said the game is hard unless you have level 75 friends and liek i said it took me MONTHS to get what i have.. But it is possible to get to level 75 in 10 days.. Im just stating the facts

Yeah^^ but there is absolutely no way a beginner could get 75 in 10 days.


Guy on my server did WHM in about that over the last week or so....he is probably the richest guy on the server, has armies of friends/slaves to help him level, and plays 14+ hours a day.

FF11 is very addicting and SE has a warning that the make you agree to because it prevents them from getting a law suit.


Because playing FF11 you will
Lose friends
Piss off family members
Wont lose your job because it is the only way you can pay SE to play more.
Will lose allot of sleep.
Will start using game terms in real life.
and Much more!

If you are not addicted to FF11 yet RUN

RUN and don't look back.

RUN because once you are addicted it will be very hard to stop.
