New to FFXI : FFXI General Discussions

Ok. Im all new to FFXI (patching the game atm), and im looking though the forums here trying to find something that will help me when im starting to play FFXI and in the early levels.

If anyone would link to some useful guides I´d be very happy (i have premium so i can read the confirmed sections).

And a question, Is botting working well in FFXI?

I guess it depends on what type you're looking for. Job guide? Low level gil making guide?

You will want to grab a copy of windower and mapmon (mapmon would have been awesome to have when I was starting) Tparty with windower will be nice for low level skillchaining.

Stay away from speed,POS, tele hacks. SE has become anal and decided to assbann people. And by people I mean US. The ones who actually play the game for what it is, not play to sell gil. abuhhhhh RMT.

Ok, I created a Tarutaru Black mage, and I´m level3, i finished some mission where i had to get some kind of report in a cave and give it to some guy =/

Useful sites:

ffxiclopedia (the ffxi wiki - tells you everything you need to know).

Basic rules:

never fight monsters without signet on (check the wiki)

collect everything you get, sell it all

INT is the stat you want most, followed by mp.

Level from 1-10 in gustaberg, buy all spells if you can, at 10 go to valkurm dunes (dangerous journey - take care)

if you find resting times too long, buy some cookies - eat them and you rest mp significantly faster - they're quite cheap too.

reasearch before buying stuff - find the cheapest place

join a good linkshell

be patient - early levels, BLM is a long haul..it's worth it in the end though.

do the sub job quest at level 18(check wiki - most people do the selbina one, unless you have access to level 45+ help, when mhaura is better), and sub WHM.

sell as at vendor or in auctions?

auction house is 99.999% of the time better for sellers, and about 30% of the time better for buyers.


Basically buy low level items from npc vendors, high level ones from ah, sell everything at ah.
