Does this sound like a scam or not? : World of Warcraft General Discussions

I don't know if I'm supposed to post this here or not. Forgive me if I'm not supposed to.

Anyways... I'm trying to buy an account on eBay. The seller insists on moving the character out of his account, to the buyer's account, because he has another character he wants to play. I contacted the seller and this is what he said

Sole reason for Blizzard making the transfer of characters among the accounts is to respect the possibiliy of sales of characters. Only thing blizzards ask for is the proper postal code/ ZIP of the original owner, which is entitled to me at this point. what will happen is that when u pay for the character + transfer fee, i will ask you for your account number and the desired realm that you wish, in order for that to be possible, you need to have a previous activated account with blizzard.
and yes it is possible to see the character in game, just send me your msn address and i will log in to the character and u are free to inpect. thank you

Now my question is, does it sound like a scam to any of you guys or is this actually true and how safe is this? Thanks.

Well, your not allowed to send it to another person.
Its only meant for you, and only you.
So I guess it isn't a scam, but this is only from what I've heard (which isn't alot) I'd do some deep research on this one.

You cant trade a char from one account to a other account if its not the same owner.

I sold my rogue to a friend of mine, bue he had to buy a new account, so i could transfer my rogue.

Well for scamming on ebay you can give them bad feedback and also report them to ebay if they do scam you. In my personal opinion i wouldnt buy a account OR a character off of ebay or even in game money, cause all it does is take time to earn it yourself, and its always worth the time if you enjoy the game, which is enough reason to work on your character(s) spending your desired amount of time on him/her/them. Opposed to spending money and wasting it on entertainment your already paying for, MIGHT be taken away from you for buying a account, or money, (not a character transferred to you apparently) and having your gf or wife beat your head in when you told her how much you spent. Just my two cents, good luck and i hope this post helped......

Also just to clerify the buyer is talking about sending a character once you buy a account yourself. I may have miss read on everyones posts, but if he said he was selling a account and is trying to give you a character instead of what you bought or hes offering....Then i would tell him something, or if you already paid for it....Then just threaten and/or report him and give him bad feedback.

also make sure you pay with paypal. if you get screwed out of the char you can take back the payment on virtual goods and paypal as far as i know always sides with the buyer. someone once stole everything from an online RMT site by having the order filled and sent then disputing it and getting all the currency (quite a few games) and keeping all his cash. funny stuff but sad also

Paypal is not always as good as you would expect
