How is SE banning accounts? : FFXI General Discussions

They just recently banned 1400 more accounts, in addition to the 2000 they banned a few months ago, but how are they doing it?

I have 2 accounts, both I hack on alot, but only one was suspended, and I know other people who hack that weren't suspended either.

For example, are they keeping a log of any char that goes above a certain Y coordinate in-game? Or what...

Does anyone have any ideas? Since I don't think anyone here would know for sure.

yeah, no one really knows for sure how they detect it. Its very possible that they integrated some server side checks. Aside from that, its probably gms seeing you/players reporting you.

As for everyone getting banned at once; they probably record all the account names and then do a mass ban on day X, most likely for a scare effect.

yeah, they are most likely doing the record all names then do the mass ban thing to scare people which obviously worked on a few of you

I had a very interesting experience with a GM earlier...


fyi I have pos-hacked both before and after each 'mass-banning'.


What happened, basically, was I reported another player for fake casino (takes gil, I win, he DCs).

After a few days I was asked to call a GM for the follow up.

That was today^^. I call a GM (Archantion), and he says yeah, we've got your gil back, can I tele you to jail to make the trade?

I say "err...ok", and I'm in gaol...no GMs to be seen

Take a few screenshots, walk round a bit, but haven't seen anyone in 5 mins or so...kinda freaky.


Unnanounced, a senior GM (Yojadi) appears.

I get kinda panicky lol...bit of an "oh !@#$%^&*" moment...thought I was gonna get banned or something, but he just traded me the gil xD.

He was pretty nice too - he /waved back at me and stuff.




Basically, it seems wierd - I was under the impression that if you enter gaol you're screwed, but apparently not...

IMO, you can still use them and be safe. I got suspended but probably b/c I was only one in Riverne A for a hour+ so they drop by and BAM they got me. Also wouldnt be surprised if they actually checked in on forums just like these. They know where and when these are used the most and thats where they monitor. I would feel safe using POS to jump across somewhere like Cape Terrigan. People also say be sure to invis/sneak when using these. Kinda pointless, shouldnt use these if any ppl are around period. And if you think GM's cant see you with that up then lol.
