Need some gil advice... : FFXI General Discussions

I see many people mention how they have these massive amounts of gil... And I just don't understand how they came up with it. So please, share your tips.

I know the economy varies from server to server. Back in the day, farming silk and beehive chips was a viable way to make gil. Not these days...the prices have gone down significantly for the NQ items, especially crafting materials, but not for expensive monopolized drops etc.

I don't mind buckling down and farming my !@#$%^&* off if it is worth it in the end. But farming for an hour for 10k isn't really what I have in mind... Yeah there are BCNMs, but I've had the worst luck in those... I've done around 25 BCNMs and not once did I make more than 80k or so per run.

I'm not lazy, just don't know what to farm. Or what to do. I am not in a HNM-LS or anything like that, I have more lower level friends than higher... I have a melee character in the low 70s with decent gear but I don't know what to farm now that everything I dont need is cheap and everything I want is still in the millions.

NM camping is the way to go... But I highly doupt anyone in the 70's is asking what to farm, where to farm, or anything... You barely need any money at all after 72 unless you're a NIN or a RNG... Most of the good equip is Rare/Ex... Unless you go with an SH or something... But otherwise you don't really need money after 70's.... And I don't think you're really in the 70's, because you would know what to farm by now... And you would have more money, because you need a shitload of money to get that high in almost any job....

I'd say if you want some quick cash while you sleep, use the fishing bots provided here. Fish something simple like carp or something, you should atleast be making more than 10k an hour if your fishing is only level 1 =/.

Also alot of people have been living off of items they sold last xmas. So if you didn't take advantage of that last year, good luck this year. The prices on gil arent going to drop as much as last year, but there will be a discount and alot of buying which means the prices should go up a bit this coming xmas ^^

normally i just stick to crafting consumables. cooking works great with fish bots. ur not gonna make massive amount in a blink but it will slowly adds up.

Unless you can produce your bait at no or almost no cost, fishing anything besides Moat Carp and Sandfish is a waste of time with what I've found. Why? Because you can fish those up with very little cost in Little Worms right off the AH. All other bait digs into profits more and the more expensive fish with higher returns generally costs more in bait to yield that stack of fish to make huge profits. They don't always sell near as well either. A 50k fish means crap if no one buys it. Moats will always sell at AH common price. I bought 3 stacks of little worms at 10 gil each and sold the Moats at 5k a stack.

Thats not true. My dad (hes 56 years old rofl) who plays FFXI has fishing lvl 75 and hes has 9.5 million just from fishing + cooking combo.

At 53 fishing you can fish Shall shells and use them to make shallops tropicle. I'm not sure what they sell for on your server, but it was always a steady little pocket cash for me. They cost like 900 gil or so to make if you buy the rest of the ingredients from Npcs

you can catch shall shells at skill 0. and if you condition your script right, you'll never ever lose your lure.

I have 250 mil. 200 mil I have fishing to thank for. when taco price was still 60-70k a stack I made 1-1.5mil a day. now price goes down to 30k tho.
