1.free vent server. your going to have a VERy hard tiem finding one of these if you can even find one.

2. its advertised all the time and some people say they ahte it but i love www.godaddy.com all of the tech support ive gotten through them has been amazing and it was easy to set up. They will elt you do all your rosters and DKp systems but their not going ot tell you how or offer direct support on them so you'll need to learn how to do that.

3. relitively cheap but not free

4. I have noticed when makeing higher end guilds the best way to run it is to be very strict and don't be afraid to kick people but thats jsut my 2 cents home you found it helpful.

http://www.freewebspace.net

the message board @ freewebspace is a place where free webhost masters conglomerate and post their pitches for their websites

you can usually find a good host that supports having a message board and other community based scripts

as for ventrilo, if you have irc, go to irc.gamesurge.net into some of the higher gaming channels and ask for a ventrilo sponsorship!

Alright some tips,

A vent Server and a website is a must you already know this

You'll need a goal in mind MC/BWL/AQ/Naxx or w/e

If you decide with the above figuring out a raid time is best not everyone is from the same time you are

You want to know strategies, you want to be able to talk like you've been there without actually being there. It helps raid morale and makes you look good.

Also If you want to go with the above you'll want a DKP system, something like zero sum works really well. You want to think about guild rules.

You want to keep in mind rank wise...officers, Raiding Ranks, possible friends of guild.

Recruitement policy, depending on your goal what kind of gear do you expect? What Levels.

Advertising your guild is new upcoming and recruiting, for example WoW forums or random Spammers.

Send me a private message if you have any other questions or more details. If i think of other stuff ill add to it

You need to know every raid you're doing very well and you must be able to tell the other members of the raid what to do, so you must speak very good english.

Most guilds use EQDKP wich can be found here: http://eqdkp.com/

I find that great guilds definately require friendliness and good communication. Also you need to keep a bit of order. I have left two guilds cause of hotheads and idiots or just plain lack of communication where people dont respond, lack of enthusiasm etc. make sure you recruit people that share your values and passion for the game. Be tolerant but not slack. be kind but firm when needed.. I have seen guilds fall to pieces because of idiots..

you definately need vent, website, and some guild money, but a guild will always fail if no one joins lol

In a good guild, make up some easy rules that are not allowed to be violated.

Choose some of your best friends in the guild to become officers with you, allow your most trusted to invite people to the guild, but I'd keep the right to kick ppl for myself until the guild is bigger.

The guild has to have activites for all levels.
It could be raiding, PVP, ordinary instances, big grinding sessions or competitions.

I doubt you'll find the free vent server (but if you do, let me know! lol). Our guild uses a 50 man Teamspeak server which is about $18/mo roughly so its not too expensive. As for a good hosting site, I just own the domain name for our guild and the website is hosted from a spare PC at my home. This could be the most cost effective one for you, the domain is usually about $7.99/yr from DomainSite.com . With your isp, you may also be able to have a webpage for free (included in your monthly price for your internet really) and that could solve your problems.

If you plan to have a somewhat large guild with may members who access the website, you need to take into account the amount of data transferred each month if you purchase hosting (some places only alott a specific amount of transfer a month).

For the roster setup, I had found and I now religiously promote WoW Roster. You can find this at www.wowroster.net . Not only does it update your guild info, it can also work with other members and they can upload their character stats etc etc. It uses two add-ons for the members and 3 for the leader/officials. Character Profiler, PVP Log, Guild Profiler. The latter of the three would go to your officers/leader.

If you plan to use forums, PHPBB2 is pretty stable and good to use. If you host it yourself, you need to have PHP and MYSQL installed on your PC to use this. If you host elsewhere, your web hosting provider must support the PHP and MYSQL in order to use the PHPBB2 forum system. As for the DKP, as it was suggested oin a previous reply, your best bet would be to go with the eqdkp. I haven't seen much of anything else out there except that, or doing all the work manually. All in all, its a bit of work to get it all going, but once its up and running, it will basically run itself. If you need help with anything (setup, config, etc) feel free to shoot me a PM.

Download the ventrilo server app from here
http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php

And then go here to open up ports in the router etc.
First, choose router, and then "Ventrilo Server"
This is the hgardest step, everyone seems to fail =/
http://portforward.com/english/routers/ ... rindex.htm

My tip is: Find some other ppl that have a Ventrilo Server and ask them if you can use it
