Im just recently returning to wow after about 9 months off. Im sure a lot has changed in the 9 months that i was playing other mmo games. I was still wondering if blizzard was still anal as !@#$%^&* on bans. Just before i left seems like they were banning ppl like crazy for gold farming/botting/using power leveling. Are they still as bad as they were or have the chinese gold farmers got better on there tactics? What are my chances of getting banned from buying gold or using power leveling or even a bot? My account has some high lvl toons on it already so i really dont wanna be banned just because i didnt know how smart blizzard really is.

Blizzard is still banning peple for buying gold because it can be classified as farming/botting the gold. You still have a high chance of being banned for getting powerleveled and botting but for farming the gold, that is easy and you won't get banned for it because you are farming the item drops and doing quests to get the gold so that's not bad. But for the botting and powerleveling and buying gold, you still have a high chance of getting banned.

there arent many safe ways to buy gold anymore. blizzard tracks gold that known gold sellers farm, and instead of banning their account they ban the people who buy the gold for some stupid reason.

powerleveling is hard to get banned for if you dont do it for some crazy amount of levels and dont do it that often, but its dangerous because i hear tons of stories about people getting their account destroyed and the powerleveling company just denies it and theres nothing you can do about it.

This is true and at the same time not true. Powerleveling is not hard to get banned for. If the bot is detected, then it's an automatic ban from the game and your account will be banned without any chance of getting unbanned. I had a player powerleveled to level 20 on an account I did not and then had my main account banned for it getting powerleveled from level 30 to level 40. I complained to the company that my account was banned and they did not deny anything but did give me my money back which was a good thing but other companies will deny it like you did say before.
