Confirmed that this works.

But when you die, you get a death penalty, you can get rid of this by turning in a quest. It is useful because traveling takes time, so for example i'm in a dungeon and need to turn in a quest, i will simply die, get resed at the closest quest npc and turn in the quest. As soon as i turn it in, no death penalty

The reason you loose the death penalty is due to the loss in quest xp you get. If you simply kill mobs the death penalty will go away on its own before the timer goes away. Basically you wait the allotted time or you gain enough xp to counter the res sick buff. It's just like EQ2 where you die and you get a xp penalty until you earn back the amount you lost.

I was unaware of this. I just thought i was losing track of time.

Is there a meter or place showing how much the xp need to lose the death debuff is?

Not nerfed...however, what the above poster said is true - it's based on amount of XP earned, not just turning in a quest. The thing is, when you turn in a quest, you gain a lot of xp all at once so it seems like it's the quest and not the xp.

Turning in a quest is still the quickest way (assuming you will be getting XP for that part of the quest).

I use this for fast travel.
I commit suicide, pick a rez point, then claim one of my overflow quest items to get the quest xp which removes the death penalty.

This isn't really an exploit. It's by design. You turn in a quest you remove DP. You can also remove it by leveling up or touching your tombstone.
