No longer working, unfortunately. Here's the error message:

You can't be crouching.
Skill logging was stopped.

I have had occasional instances where I'll start harvesting and I won't get a progress bar and no sound will be made, but I haven't been able to replicate it. It's possible that this bug still works in some other form with some other action to replace the crouch.
