2million damage, how? : DFO - General / Guide - Discussions

Someone on the DF forums got shot for over 2 million damage. Any idea what weapon was used or how that was done? It sounds like the battlespike bug with no cap

Yeah, kind of interesting. supposedly lots of people 1shotting high end mobs right now. not sure the work around for the cap thing, it has something to do with archery. tried doing archery with a medium battlespike and was capping at 51. so far Ive had the most success using blast at 170 dmg to the back, 2 billion is pretty ridiculous

Reportedly being hotfixed during this morning's downtime.

Heavy battlespike and archer with sharpshooter required.

Shoot your bow at the mob, switch to spike, toss the spike so that it hits before the arrow, monster takes 2 million some odd damage.

So you have to shoot an arrow, and before that arrow lands, throw a spike at the mob? It doesn't seem possible.

That is totally impossible technically. You can not switch weapons fast enough to even throw a spike while the arrow is flying, and it is even more impossible to land a hit with the spike in that time.

It seems to relate to Archery though, but I am unsure if it has a connection to the Battlespikes.

not been fixed today ,but gm's are hanging round all the high lvl mob spawns.

uses the same mechanic that the whole low damage archery macro uses. the damage modifier on battlespikes is what, 20.0? im pretty sure you dont have to -hit- the mob with a battlespike, just equip it before the arrow hits the target

Pretty sure it is NOT the Battlespike exploit.
Battlespike is 65 front and 91 back damage. Not 2 Billion. Also
The Battlespike one doesnt have any damage difference between light and heavy spikes.

Also, are we guessing, or is anyone in here who has DONE it ? Like daakar or derek2 ?

The Arrow flies faster than the spike, which makes it technicalla impossible for a single Person to shoot an arrow and then land a spike before the arrow hits, unless you would send the arrow in a high angle into the air and HOPE for it to hit the mob when it comes falling down again.

You merely needed to equip the spike prior to the arrow / spell hitting the target.

This is being patched... right now on the US server.

@all: Could people when contributing in this thread please state if they HEARD something or if they KNOW (and have used) something ?

I think we are turning around in circles here.
@iolo: grabbing the spike prior to a spell or arrow hit did NOT result in 2 Billion damage.
So this is not what we are talking about.

They did not fix the Battlespike one, but probably the 2 Billion dmg one.

I heard it was something involving going into negative damage, and that rolling into the negative resulted in max dmg since the math was messed up. tried switching with 0 dmg weapons and resulted in 4 dmg archery, maybe involves a debuff aswell?
