Character Transfer Bug : SWG Premium Discussions

I recently did a character transfer and happened to stumble across an interesting bug.

I did a transfer with items to another galaxy. I had full inventory plus and full backpack before I did the transfer. My inventory had about 30, +35 power bits and a few other things that were important to me. When I did the transfer it put the new toon on the galaxy I wanted to transfer to but the original toon stayed in the galaxy I was trying to tranfer from.

I checked my email and it said it was an unknown error. So I tried again. Same thing happened. Here is the good part though. I kept doing it and everytime I did it, the new toon that was created in the new galaxy had about 10 of the power bits and all of my credits in the inventory. So what I did was drop off the power bits at the house I already had in that galaxy and transfered the credits to the toon I had there.

I did this about 5 times and then decided to figure out why this was happening. So I got rid of a few things in my invetory and backpack so I wasn't completely full and then the transfer went through. So to me it seems that if you make sure you have a full inventory and backpack it may cause an error with transfering. Not sure if it could be reproduced but It sure did work out nice for me.

(oh, and I only got charged for the one that successfully transfered.)

So let me get this straight. Each time you tried and got an error, it still created a new toon on the new galaxy? How were you able to access the new toon?

Yup, each time it created a new toon. Accessing the new toon was just like accessing any other toon. Just log in. Like I said it had all the credits from the original toon and about 10 of my 35 bits.

Hmm if we knew exactly how this works. It could be a credit dupe and item dupe :)

Are you able to keep all the toons created on the new server?

Could it possible the name you were transfering with was already taken on the new server?

Yes I was able to keep the toons on the new server but once I transfered the credits and dropped off the items I deleted them and did it all over again.

I don't really think it was a name issue because everytime i went through the transfer process I had to choose a new name and it accepted it. The only thing I can think of would be a completely full Inventory and backpack.

I may try this again in a few weeks to see if I can reproduce it.

Did you have -'s In your name? They usualy dont allow that in transfers. Which also causes the character respec device exploit to happen.
