Name change (please read the entire post before replying) : SWG Premium Discussions

I recently transferred to a new server and had to change my name, but I really want to change it again, as I don't much care for the name my toon has now.

My question is this: Since the dev's won't change a toon's name unless it violates the EULA or unless it is offensive and draws complaints, is it possible to transfer to another server and then immediately back and have to change the name, or would you instantly be given the same name again?

My reasoning behind asking this is whether or not the name you have on server A would be no longer assigned to your toon once you transfer him away, then when you transfer him back, there would be already a toon slot with that name even though the toon with the name no longer exists.

Before I transferred, I created a toon on the new server with the name of the toon I was intending to transfer to the new server. Don't ask me why I did it, it was stupid, I know lol. Anyway, I deleted that toon, then tried to transfer the character with the exact same name spelling, however, I kept getting a message that the name was already in use.

I guess what this all boils down to is, how long is the name reserved as used after a toon is deleted?

I don't want to waste $100 to transfer my character twice just to rename him only to find out that I'm not given the opportunity to change the name.

Well, one, did you try to submit a name change request and see what they would say?

And two, theres a 30 day waiting period for transferring toons now. Which is you can only transfer a toon once every 30 days. They did that to stop the people transferring to buy stuff cheaper on other servers, and to buy tuned crystals, then transferring back.

Nope, I hadn't heard about the 30 day wait. I guess I got my transfer in just before that went into effect. I haven't tried submitting for a name change since I hear it's pointless to ask.

But then, I'd waste what, maybe 5 minutes filling out the application for it? I might have to give it a shot. I'll post what happens when I find out what I can do.
