This is an idea for an advanced mod that alters the particle effects for the smoke cloud and vanish spy abilities to be the same as the jedi force run particles. Just imagine that little trail showing you exactly a spy is going.

I have had a lot of play with appreance moding but havent touched particle animation yet. Can anyone else contribute to this idea?

Could be possible to alter the spy cloak. Im not into that side of modding though. Would definiately be considered a cheat mod.

I have a 99.999% feeling that this is impossible. Why? Because SOE knows that client-side modding is a simple thing that is widely done. So, they realize how easy it would be for someone to do a mod like this so they put in safeguards im sure, one being that no animations/client effects are fired off when cloaked.

So why is this highly unlikely to work? Because when a character cloaks the server tells the clients to not fire off any effects until the character uncloaks, thus with no animations/effects going on in the clients view, there is no animation or effect you could associate force ghost with to make an image appear. Its not like there is a animation called "cloak" that you can swap with a better animation.

Cant be done, im fairly certain of it due to the fact that modding is so simple in swg and done by so many.

Every now and then I'm able to see spies walk by me cloaked, it was designed that way. In knowing that, I also believe their is a way to mod the game to see a cloaked spy.

get real, many the developers are highly educated programmers (dispite what they are given credit for, lets see you go out and code a mmorpg) this is an elementary exploit that anyone with a brain could figure out may happen.

it just so happens to be that I do program 3d games and some multiplayer games and it might not be posible to just simply swap a animation file wich u think is what they are trying to do but it is possible (maby not with SWG Explorer mind u) to find the data tables that control the alpha value (how much u can see through an object) and raises it for the enemy cloaked spies... this will work becouse if a spy is in ur group or u r using cloak (like a jedi can) u can c a half way trasperent character... and also u can see a half way trasparent charcter if the spie doesnt have good enuf cammo and u can c through it and attack them while they r cloaked....

so if we can find the file that containes the alpha value of the cloak we can thereticaly raise it to a higher number even 100% so they woulkd appeer normal

also on a side note i know u could switch it cuz on my laptop that i use if i need a second set of controls and dont want to alt tab to other account the graphics r set on low and if my jedi cloaks i dont even go half way trasparent my name just goes part way trasperent when i /tar self as if i were a cloaked group member

just my 2 cents into the matter as a programmer

LOL Nub. If they were really that smart then how come when I use force choke on a SPy just before he cloaks I see exactly where he goes? Or When I force throw at a spy I see where he goes. Any animation done to a spy prior to him cloaking enables you to see where he is. If that is possible without modding then all you would need to do is make a mod that turned one of your specials into an infinite animation loop(like lighting animation for default attack) so when you attack someone they have a lighting animation on them forever. Would be chaotic but with some skill a mod could be made quite easily.

I think I'm going to attempt it right now. And If I get it to work I'll make sure to avoid you and you're "100%" Confidence in the devs as even humans make mistakes and sites like this wouldn't exist if they were that "smart"

I looked into switching spy weapons to a LS to get the glow to show me where they are, but when ever I see that weapon all I see is the black box with a question mark. Any reason why?

Hmm weird, I see that happen with the Mouse droid Familiar here and there. No idea why it happens though :P
