Sure, as a lvl 90 you can (I solo it with my Jedi as well), but for 75's to 87's it's pretty tough. The quest gives decent XP and if you're looking to lvl, this is a stress free step. I don't think that because it is soloable by a lvl 90 makes the glitch any less useful. IMHO of course.

what do they drop? Is there a point to killing them?

The Katarn is the last hunt in the Ryatt Trails hunting series. When you complete the quest you get:

187k XP
Knucklers of the Katarn
Katarn Hunting Trophy
Random lvl 87+ loot
Badge: Ryatt Trail Katarn Master

The point is, it's a decent quest (and the toughest of the series). A good lvl 72-75 can solo most of the hunts leading to the Katarn, but it would be impossible to solo the Katarn (at that lvl) and survive... it takes a skilled lvl 87-90 with PuPs to solo it. It's a good amount of XP. Those who think it's no big deal, that haven't met the Katarn, or just haven't been down lately should give it a shot (It's located in The Shadowed Lands (Level 5) on the Ryatt trail at about 140, 27). You should be able to do it as a lvl 90 Jedi (Light or Dark... Light may be more challenging) but imagine being a lvl 75 and struggling through the frustration tied to trying to complete the quest... that is the value of the bug.

Actually, light is even LESS challenging...
Can use a basic afk macro to solo this one...
Right now im using the Katarn to work out a few bugs in the autoit bot im building..
When done it should be able to do EVERYTHING a player can, including fish.. only diffrence will be it wont sleep ^^
(right now it dies spectacularly if it goes under 40% health in a single blow)

Absolutely right! BUT not the point of the post. Would you agree that not all members of TU are level 90? If yes, then would you agree that being able to solo this mission is very useful for a level 70? 75? 80? If so... is it a yay for this bug?

Hello all! I promise I will not push the subject after this... I have kept away for a few days and I hoped that I'd come back and find at least a yay or two from those of you who raised questions and got answers back. I'm a bit disappointed that a bug *that works* gets very little support because it's not beneficial to lvl 85-90 players. My last push for this is to remind everyone about the work it took to get to 90, from elders to newer players. It's not that easy even with a few exploits and bugs to lighten the load and cut some time... If you feel like giving it a shot, it will work. I know it's probably not worth much to most of you; but the guy who has gone down to fight that thing 10 times today, and lost every time, would be more than ecstatic to have this option... for now, I guess he can find it here for free... I'm making progress on a few ("few" meaning one in this case... hehe) other things, so I won't campaign on behalf of this post after this. But please think about giving this another look...
