Accounts being banned for speed hacking : World of Warcraft General Discussions

We wanted to take this time to make an announcement about a serious hacking violation in World of Warcraft, one for which we have zero tolerance. Certain individuals have been identified as using speed hacks to accelerate their characters. This goes against the theme of fair play that we have instituted for the game, and is in clear violation of the World of Warcraft Terms of Use.

Those individuals who were caught using the speed hack have been banned from the game and have had their accounts closed. We must stress once again that we are opposed to hacking and cheating of any kind and are dedicated to maintaining a fair environment in our games. This will serve as a final warning to others who are considering using the speed hack. If you are caught using it, you will be banned without question from World of Warcraft and your account will be revoked.

It's says it wants people to report them so I doubt they can track it, just don't be stupid and use it in a public place.

the server does detect em..

Use fraps and look at your ping, more than likely around 50-80, when you use your speedhack it will jump down to 2-5. Detecting is using ping would be very easy. Have also heard your ping will jump to 5000.

if it detects them then why am I not banned. Latency can be due to dial up connection, low speed internet or problems with your line. I have used speed hack with UO and WoW and never been caught. They don't have their client and server in sync which is stupid, but does cut down on your lag.

If you get caught just tell them you were messing around with you task manager and maxed out your priority to see if you could get a better ping. I believe that will act as a sort of speed hack if I remember correctly.

I have been using it since open beta. I only use it to swim to booty bay and check out all the lands to be the griffin waypoints. I've done this with my 4 chars.

I don't use it in places where people are. I also use it on my rogue when he stealthed. If I every get banned I'll be sure to post.

doesnt matter were u use it , server notices something about the way ur packets are beeing send to the server,

GM comes to check it out for confirmation and ur banned

thats why a invisible hack would be nice , so u can detect gms

Isnt there a way to speed hack but dont make it like 2 or 3 times as fast, just do it for like maybe 1.5x as fast.

Make it in such a way that Blizzard cannot effectively conclude you are speed hacking. Put the problem on them to decide if you are speed hacking. Of course if you are too obvious you get banned, but if you are just borderline fast, I dont think they can be sure.

Keep in mind this is Blizzard, they are not idiots. They went through starcraft/warcraft/ and you cannot forget Diablo 2. I'm almost positive they can detect, it might just take time, but in the end the jokes on you. It's not worth the 100 dollars I spent on mytwo accounts to get banned over a speedhack.

why would you guys even speed hack if you like that crap go to counter-strike otherwise just play the game its stupid to spend 14 bucks a month when your not even goin to play the game the right way you morons.
