ok, just a warning for this guide, you need to have your mining at 125 or above to be able to mine Iron, and i believe its 175 for mithril.

The easiest place for mining Iron

is in Arathi Highlands ( http://www.worldofwar.net/cartography/w ... arathi.php ) Along the top part of arathi, there are mobs around 31-36, so they arnt too challenging, and there is lots of iron east-west north.

Easiest place for mithril and the second easier place for Arathi!
The Badlands!
( http://www.worldofwar.net/cartography/w ... dlands.php )
pretty much the area's where you will find the most mines are on all the hills all around the place, the rock elementals seem to have a higher chance of mines in the area, and I do warn you, there are vary various level ranges in here (38-50ish) and highly recommended to say away from the dragons (part II of the Broken Alliance quest (Horde))

For many people who do not know how to get to the badlands, you must go south of Arathi highlands and through Dusk Wood, and Loch Modan and then you hit the badlands, and in Kargath (Horde) there is a flightpath there that will take you back to Arathi/Undercity or Grom'Gol/Booty Bay.
if you are still having problems finding your way, this map might be of some use to you ( http://www.worldofwar.net/cartography/w ... rncont.php )

Now I know this isnt much of a guide, but I hope it helps some of you aspiring engineers/blacksmiths.

I don't know about the Badlands (only lvl 31 ), but it's true there's good iron in the Highlands to the SE and NE, and I've found Silver too.
