I think they went a bit over board with the naming policy. Pretty much now all you can have are dumb made up names lol. If you want to see what I am talking about visit http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/policy/naming.shtml

overboard, ha. I think it's great. now i won't be seeing like 100 cloud, clooud, cloudx, xcloud, ect. ect. and among other things running around. think of a freaking NAME, it's a NAME. go online go search for a "baby name" or something. pick a regular name like dan, chris, whatever the heck.

defintily, great move here by blizz for once. I wont be seeing !@#$%^&* like xhumanx or !@#$%^&* like evlenork and other stupid crap that was made in stress test. Maybe if they make a rp server just make a bit stircter. btw if u read the whole list of rules most of them are so vlizzard dnt get sued by third parties like "mcdonaldsowns" and "soesucks" cant use them anymroe. So just find a good roleplaying name. and it gets better no more names like l33tork and !@#$%^&* like that.

Well I am just saying, I dont' use L33tsp34k or anything like that. I am talking about mainly the religion one. Big deal if someone wants to name their character Jesus or wants complete randomness of names. The more you think about it, who cares what anyone names THEIR character, remember, it is THEIR character. Yes I understand Blizzard owns it all, but we are paying for it, therefore we should be able to name it what we like.

the problem is if I choose a name and someone complains then I may have to change it.

There are names that mean 2 different things.

Randy=name
Randy=horny

err the us server's in florida though. and for the religion one. i think that may count as ethnic hatred or intolecternce or something like that to religons that find "jesus" or such offensive. anyways id be alright with stuff like ancient gods and mythology cause thats mroe widly accepted. anyone else have an opinon on the namin policy.

I don't live in US so excuse my faulty knowledge.
Heres what I wanted for my name:

Damn those bastards over at Blizzard, damn them to hell! :roll:

Playin UO and SWG having people run around with any names was very helpful. I could point the !@#$%^&* out quite easily.

In Lineage, they would ban people from the game for saying "damn".

I played UO and my char was black.
My friend said to me
!@#$%^&*, eat a big fat !@#$%^&* you nasty black !@#$%^&*.
He then paged a GM on me.

He was banned and when I asked why they sent me an email telling me what he said. We still laugh about it.
