I understand that in order to record more than 30 seconds of footage you need to purchase fraps. Any possible way around this? I understand this isn't WoW Discussion but I would enjoy having this program to record my PvP battles in WoW. If this is possible please let me know, thanks.

You can download a professional version of Fraps from a wide assortment of tracker sites or P2P programs if you want. I had a friend of mine share his professional Fraps account with me. If you want it, I can send it to you.

I think there is another video capture type program that can do the same and has a free version that captures video, albeit of a smaller resolution, however I dont think it is limited in amount of video you record...

ahh here it is.. it is limited in that it can only record to AVI format, however that includes nearly 90% of all video as divx , xvid and several other codecs are avi formats (more correctly AVI is more like a container for them).

Once recorded to avi format you can use any video utility to recompress or add filters (effects) to meet your standard. The best (and free) program I have found is Vdub, (virtual-dub).

There are many other programs out there. As for FRAPS you could crack it if you really want to...
