Hmm that was really not an answer to what happened to the post or did the person that created the post remove it which I doubt because everything is gone and I know people must have replied to it.

Very strange... The more time passes until we see the post the more suspicious IMHO

The FoTD quests are NOT an exploit

I'm posting this because I've seen several people claiming that the FoTD quests are an exploit and that's how some people got to 80. This is simply NOT true. Here is some FIRST HAND info.

They are on par with doing regular quests or grinding of equivalent level (perhaps slightly faster at this time because it is more consistent due to people having to learn how to do the other quests)

ALSO, they are ONLY on par with regular quests if your group has NO COMPETITION. Once two groups are trying to do them at the same time it will be SLOWER than regular quests and grinding.

Facts about the FoTD quests:

They require you to kill 15 or 20 mobs (depending on which one). Those mobs exist in specific camps, if you kill a mob from camp A it does NOT give credit for the quest at camp B.

The camps only have just enough, or just under, the number of mobs needed to complete the quest, so you often have to wait for respawns while doing the quest. The mobs take probably 5 minutes to respawn. So if anyone kills an extra mob, dies, is out of range, or if another group is there you have to sit waiting for respawns to finish the quest. When you finish it you have to run back to the camp to pick it up again (which takes time).

Lets now do some math.

The quest is worth about 10k exp. (The lower one is 9k and the higher one is either 10 or 12k, cant remember)

Lets say that you have a magic group that kills them instantly and assume that there are enough mobs in the camp to actually complete the quest without waiting for respawns and assume that you can run at warp speed to pick up the quest again. It will still take a minimum of 5minutes just waiting for the camp to respawn to even be possible to complete the quest again. (Obviously it will take a real group longer than that)

Now lets take a sample of some levels to see how much time they would take:

To go from level 47 to 48 requires 189,500 exp.

189,500 / 10k = 18.95 quests (You have to repeat the quest 19 times).

19quests * 5minutes = 95minutes = 1hour 35minutes to complete the level

Thats pretty much the same as it takes to do it using regular quests or grinding mobs.

Just for the sake of it, lets extend this out a bit and see if it even makes sense at a little bit higher level.

Going from 52 to 53 requires around 340k exp
340k / 10k = 34quests * 5mins = 170mins = 2hours 50minutes

If that quest gets you from 47 to 48 in 1h 35m and from 52 to 53 in 2h 50m you can take a stab at how much time it takes for every level in between those. You can see that it would take someone well over half a day to do those 6 levels using these repeatable quests.

The FoTD quests could NOT have gotten people to level 80

Why did I just post this? Because there are A LOT of people posting here who clearly do not have first hand experience with the quests and their information is NOT CORRECT. Don't buy into everything you see on the forums without getting any actual data to back it up.

There clearly IS an exploit out there that allowed some people to get to lvl 80, but it is not the field of the dead quests.

I am Level 45 and have done a healthy mix of questing and grinding most of the time with a party of 3. I have played since the minute servers came up and have taken a total of 6hours break in addition to server downtime. I had only a basic knowledge of the game past tortage, so someone who knew the quests/zones could probably be in the 50's without using any exploits.

From what i've heard on the server im on, there is an exploit and the gm's know about it and are issuing 1 hr bans for those who continually exploit the repeatable quest. But this is all here say mind you.

There seems to be lots of stuff people are not posting. The PoM exploit, the ToS exploit, the Demo Exploit and more. Now the ones I mentioned were fixed but never posted to this site. They patched the Demo one today for instance, but I am surprised that these good things have not been posted in a place like this. I have seen them posted in other forums of this type.
