All they simply have to do is run a check algorithm to ensure no more than 45 points are used in expertise. This can be done periodically, or it can be done when you press train. Further, they can make it so that the server must send a packet back to the client prior to acceptance of a 'train' input. They could also require packets to be sent from the client and server when the expertise window is open- say every 10 seconds- packet loss=window closes and all untrained points are lost and returned to the available points pool.
So, as you can see, there are several ways the exploit can be fixed.
