is it giving you a direct3d error or what is your computer doing exactly? Most likely its your computer NOT swg. Seeming how i regularly log 7 or 8 toons on at once from my desktop.

Yeah, I was thinking it's my computer, not SWG too. I just tried it again to see what message comes up, and this is what it says:

Error

Another instance of this application is already running. Application will now close.

It doesn't say anything about direct3d, and I'm not even sure exactly what that is. How would I go about checking to see if that's the problem?

E:\Program Files\StarWarsGalaxies

E: is the drive I save all my games on. I have several HD's on my computer, some internal, some external.
Hmm, I have seen instances where SWG acts funny when its not installed in the C drive. Its really odd. It happens without warning, and sometimes a delete and reinstall fixes it. Not sure if that has anything to do with you. It does seem like it is simply not looking for the cfg file. Maybe for kicks you can create a path on your c drive like the one I linked then just place the user.cfg file there and see what happens. Maybe the program is still looking in the wrong spot for some reason. As I said, those installs sometimes get wierd, but they are supposed to work fine.

Dang, now that you mention it, that could be the problem. Before I had this new HD installed, SWG was on C: drive. I'll try deleting it and reinstalling it on C: tonight. I'll let ya know if it works soon as I find out myself!

i'd copy all the files to the C drive first. Then install over itself. Then you won't have to redownload all the updates :)

Ok, I tried moving SWG to my C:, tried it, tried reinstalling SWG and replacing the user.cfg file in the new location, tried opening two instances, with no luck either time. Hopefully there is something else I'm missing.

Oh, and background downloading is still turned off too.

Oi, I am completely out of Ideas at this point. Looks to me like you have the perfect setup. SWG is simply ignoring your user.cfg.

I was wondering, you had it set to disable cut scenes, did that part actually work for you? This would let us know if the file is being totally ignored or not.

Just for kicks, Ill attach my user file. I know it works cuz I use it all the time.

I'll try it on Monday when I get back home. I'm wondering if there's something outside of the SWG files that could be preventing it from looking for the user file. I'm not much of a computer guru though, so I'm shooting from the hip suggesting that.

Thanks for the help so far :)

Just to clarify, when you run multiple instances they have to be on different accounts. If you log on 2 toons from the same account at the same time you will either auto LD the first one when the second loads in, or CTD, depending on your computer's mood at that moment.

RAM, processer and video card are the biggest factors that must all be super hot in order to run multilple instances efficiently, if an one of these is at the bare minimum for system requirements you will lag until you can't take it any more and give up.
