Once, tens of thousands of years ago, Takofanes lived a mortal life. He was the son of demons, the beloved follower of dark gods, and the most fearsome ruler mankind had ever known.

When he died, his subjects breathed a sigh of relief, mistakenly believing he was gone forever. They soon learned their error. Takofanes returned as the Archlich, the supreme undead ruler. The power of his necromancy had transformed him into something far more powerful than he had been in life.
