A Tour of Galaxy City

Welcome to our tour of Galaxy City!

We hope that both new and experienced Heroes will find this tour interesting and useful. Galaxy City, a part of Paragon City, is a great place to spend time after missions, relaxing, sightseeing, meeting other Heroes, or earning badges.

WARNING: There are level 1-6 villains in our fair city, including Clockworks, Hellions, and Vahziloks. Keep your hands, tails, and spines on the main roads whenever possible.

Maps and Your Location
Before we begin the tour, we'd like to mention maps and your location.
You can access your in-game Map by either pressing the "M" key, or by clicking "Map" in the Nav window. On the Map, your Hero appears as a green arrow, pointing in the direction you're facing (your green arrow may have a white dot to distinguish it from other green arrows). We also recommend that you look at the more detailed map of Galaxy City that is available at http://www.vidiotmaps.com/coh/index.php ... alaxy_city.
Did you know that every Hero has the ability to find his or her location in map coordinates? You might find it useful to define a key (such as "L", if you don't use that key for something else already) as your location key. To do this, click "Menu", then "Options". Click "Controls". Scroll down the list to "Other". Click "Get Position". Press "L". Click "Apply Changes".
Now, whenever you press your "L" key, your current location will appear in the Chat window. Try it! The first number is your West-East location (left-right on the map): large or positive numbers are further West (left on map); small or negative numbers are further East (right on map). The second number is your altitude or elevation: small or negative numbers are lower; large or positive numbers are higher. The third number is your South-North location (bottom-top on the map): large or positive numbers are further South (bottom of map); small or negative numbers are further North (top of map). Try moving around and pressing L to see how the numbers change. Jump straight up, and hit L at the top of your jump. How high can you leap?

Starting the Tour
Now that we have our maps folded and location straight, let's begin the tour. We'll start near Back Alley Brawler (368, 66, -832), in front of the Freedom Corps Headquarters building.

1. Back Alley Brawler (368, 66, -832)
Back Alley Brawler is a superhero trainer (his map symbol is a green person). He is very large, with cool shades, soul patch, and heavy-duty gloves: you can't miss him, especially standing on that pedestal. When you level up, you can visit him to train to your new level, and get a new power or new slots. Just stand close to him and click on him, and that will start a conversation with him. He's always there, day or night, to give you a word of encouragement and to let you know how many experience points you need until your next level. It's not a wild life, but he seems to like it.
Since many Heroes visit Back Alley Brawler, this is a good place to mix and mingle with other Heroes. Admire their costumes. Learn about their origins and their powers. Strike up conversations. Organize teams. Trade inspirations, enhancements, and influence. Maybe even join in an impromptu costume contest or dance party.

2. Superpowered Field Trainers (376, 64, -885) and (376, 64, -777)
Just to the northwest and southwest of Back Alley Brawler are two Superpowered Field Trainers. You can sell your unneeded enhancements here for influence. You can also buy new enhancements for your powers. They are always here, feet stuck in the cement. Just stand close to one of them and click on them, and that will start a conversation.
There is also a Superpowered Field Trainer northwest of the Freedom Corps Headquarters building, but Shadowstar (696, 64, -952) is for Warshade origins only.

3. Freedom Corps Headquarters (470, 76, -830)
The Freedom Corps Headquarters building contains many useful and interesting features, including:
a. Pretty darn big statue in the main hall. Not sure who that is.
b. Yet another Superpowered Field Trainer (525, -139, -822). As with the ones outside the building, this Superpowered Field Trainer is always available to buy unneeded enhancements and sell new ones. I hope they're getting a cut of the profits, for all the hours they put in.
c. The Super Group Registration desk (520, -139, -755) is where Heroes (level 10 or above) can register a new Super Group.
d. Respec contact Jack Wolfe (546, -139, -893) is around to help you with a Respec.
e. Behind Jack is the Information Desk (524, -139, -908), where everyone ignores you.
f. Downstairs are contacts for each of the five origins, including Caitlin Murray (Technology) (768, -163, -906), Derek Amberson (Natural) (711, -163, -964), Gregor Richardson (Magic) (711, -163, -693), Prince Kiros Nandelu (Mutant) (765, -163, -752), and Rebecca Brinell (Science) (766, -163, -825). They, too, never take bathroom breaks. (On the map, contact symbols are purple people.)
g. Bathrooms (680, -163, -885) for all three gender Heroes. The doors don't open, which may be why the contacts don't take bathroom breaks.
When you're done inside the Freedom Corps Headquarters building, leave the same way you came in and head around to the back.

4. Hero Corps Field Analyst (676, 64, -832)
A Hero Corps Field Analyst can help you change your reputation, which can be Heroic (the default), Tenacious, Rugged, Unyielding, or Invincible. This isn't simply a label: your reputation directly affects the difficulty of the missions you are offered. For example, Heroic reputations get standard difficulty missions. The difficulty increases up to Invincible, which means more powerful villains, and lots of them. If you find yourself snoring through missions, or running screaming from them, try changing your reputation.

5. Galaxy Girl Statue (922, 32, -832)
This enormous statue is difficult to miss. Even when you're far away, you can see Galaxy Girl stretching toward the sky. In front of the statue is a plaque about the origin of Galaxy Girl. I don't think you get a badge for reading it, but it's a pretty good origin story. If you brought your lunch, you can use the nearby picnic tables.

6. Plaque: Might For Right Act 2 (1160, 36, -711)
Continuing west, and directly under a Monorail pylon, we find the 2nd plaque about the Might For Right Act. If you view all 4 of the Might For Right Act plaques, you'll earn the Expert badge (http://www.rjcyberware.com/CoH/BadgesAll.phtml).

7. Plaque: Might For Right Act 3 (413, 8, 890)
Head due south along the road, down the hill, and continue southeast. Here in the Nebula District, a light industrial area, is the 3rd plaque about the Might For Right Act. This one is mounted on the side wall of a building, near a dumpster. If you view all 4 of the Might For Right Act plaques, you'll earn the Expert badge (http://www.rjcyberware.com/CoH/BadgesAll.phtml).

8. Badge: Land Locked (-2035, -44, 1001)
Continue directly east from here, passing through the Constellation Row neighborhood (there's an entrance to Kings Row to the south), into the Gemini Park neighborhood. Where the river runs into the city wall, there is a grate. The badge is along this grate. The swim is pleasant; the nearby Vahziloks aren't.

9. Plaque: Citizen Crime Act 3 (-1785, 8, 498)
Northwest of the Land Locked badge, but still within Gemini Park, is the 3rd plaque about the Citizen Crime Act. This plaque is mounted on the back of a park wall. If you view all 5 of the Citizen Crime Act plaques, you'll earn the Student badge (http://www.rjcyberware.com/CoH/BadgesAll.phtml). Just to the northeast of here is an entrance to Perez Park.

10. Plaque: Psychic Feedback Loop 2 (-520, 5, -493)
Continue northwest from the last plaque, back into the Constellation Row neighborhood. The 2nd Psychic Feedback Loop plaque is located here, under a telephone pole near a billboard pylon. If you view all 6 of the Psychic Feedback Loop plaques, you'll earn the Intellectual badge (http://www.rjcyberware.com/CoH/BadgesAll.phtml).

11. Badge: Tank (-1178, 73, -585)
Almost due east, in the Orion Beltway neighborhood, is a statue of a hefty gentleman, presumably a Tank, called M1. Tankers often hang out by this statue. If you can get into the statue's hand you'll earn the Tank badge. This is easier if you have Hover, Fly, Super Jump, or Teleport. Even without these travel powers, you may be able to climb the statue: up the back of the right leg, onto the belt, over the shoulder or head, and down. I've seen Heroes do it, but I've never made it higher than the right boot, myself. Or, ask a friendly Hero with the right travel powers to help you get there. Be sure to say, "Tanks!"

12. Badge: Brawler (-1184, 64, -935)
Directly north of the Tank badge, but still within the Orion Beltway neighborhood, is the Brawler badge. To earn this, you have to get to the highest part of the roof of the Mini Mart. If you can't get there directly, try climbing the fire escape of the nearby City of Gyros building and jumping over two roofs. Even I could do it. Or, ask a friendly Hero with the right travel powers to help you get there. While you're up there, enjoy the "Cryptic Studios" sign on the building to the north.

13. Plaque: Axis Attack 2 (-752, 5, -1550)
Northwest of the Brawler badge, in the Equinox neighborhood, is the 2nd plaque about the Axis Attack. It's on a pedestal beside the road, to the left of the building with the "Cryptic Studios" sign. If you view all 5 of the Axis Attack plaques, you'll earn the Pupil badge (http://www.rjcyberware.com/CoH/BadgesAll.phtml).

14. Badge: Bird Watcher (-1099, 48, -2263)
Northeast of this plaque, back in the Orion Beltway neighborhood, you can earn the Bird Watcher badge. This one is also tricky, but doable, without special travel powers. Climb up the fire escape until you are close to, but above, the coordinates. Then walk off the edge. With any luck, you'll land on the ledge, where the badge is located. Or, ask a friendly Hero with the right travel powers to help you get there.

15. Badge: Blue Shield (-1170, 39, -2468)
Just north of the Bird Watcher badge is the Blue Shield badge. It's on the ledge in back of the billboard, and you'll have to use nearby buildings to get to it, unless you have special travel powers. Or, ask a friendly Hero with the right travel powers to help you get there.

16. Hospital: Cygnus Medical Center (192, 37, -1714)
Southwest of these badges, back in the Freedom Court neighborhood, is the Cygnus Medical Center (a green cross symbol on your map). You usually don't have to find your way here, as you'll arrive automatically if you decide to when you're defeated and unconscious. We just thought you'd like to visit here under your own power for once.

17. Monorail: Yellow Line Station (512 64 -1768)
Conveniently close to the hospital is the Monorail station for Galaxy City. Also known as the train or tram, the Yellow Line can take you to Atlas Park, Kings Row, Steel Canyon, or Skyway City.

End of the Tour
This ends our tour of Galaxy City. We hope that you have enjoyed your time exploring this area. From here, you can use the Monorail to visit other parts of Paragon City, or use the entrance to Perez Park on the eastern wall, or the entrance to Kings Row on the southern wall.
