computer crashes upon launch of xu : DAOC Discussion

just started to use xu tonight, verified the registration and as soon as i clicked play Explorer.exe crashed, this happened many times before i reformatted, also


is there something that i forgot to change?


here's what i run:
winME -- i remember looking at a faq and it said ME was compatible-correct me if i'm wrong
gf4
amd athlon 1100+
512mb sdram

The Xu GU crashes or the game crashes ?

have updated drivers and updated directx ?

my entire computer would crash...



it works in SI though, which is good enough for me =p

Couple of things to try:

1. Set your desktop to 32 bit colors.
2. Remove any backtground apps (FRAPS, ZOneAlarm, etc)
3. Uncheck the tcpip packet sniffer
4. Update video drivers
