Mythic's new "cheat detection" is giving false pos : DAOC Discussion

Well I'm suddenly suspended from the game pending termination, and for what? Something I wouldn't even begin to know how to do. I called mythic and they refuse to help me over the phone, I spoke with CSR Moggnus through my second account, and he also refuses to help me. I have not got a clue in the world as to what I can possibly do, and I can't even get mythic to tell me WHAT I did.

I've never played this game anyway but the way it was meant to be played, and now I'm being shuffled aside by mythic without even telling me how it was I commited this "crime" A lot of you are saying that it "doesn't stack up" and in a last thread, Benezetta said mythic couldn't "scan" someone.

What I did was told CSR Moggnus that my second account which is my bot account had been logged in the entire time when I had supposedly been speed hacking on the same computer, same IP adress etc. I told the CSR to test the account for speed-hacking since if I was truely doing it, it would show up on both accounts. He said he would "investigate" my second account not scan it or anything.

Anyone who knows me knows how adamantly against cheating I am, and how I was one of the first people saying a 1 day suspension for cheaters was WAY to easy, and that anyone being caught cheating should be auto-banned.

I don't know how Mythic is supposedly detecting cheats, but there is definetely something wrong this is a complete false positive, and I really don't like having to defend myself for cheating when I didn't even do it.

I just don't know what to do, between in-game support, and the phone support I've gotten nothing, my letter to dispute@mythicentertainment.com has also not gotten a response yet and this has to be the most frustrating part, not knowing what the hell is going on. Question: why did you come here to complain about being banned? How did you even know about this site?

because I'm a bit pissed at the people who make these cheats. Because of the fact that these pieces of !@#$%^&* can't play the game fairly, they've sent mythic on a god damn witch hunt that has gotten me, someone who has never cheated IN ANY WAY in the entire time I've played the game banned.

Knowing about this site doesn't indicate any guilt or innocence on anyone's part. Until today, I didn't know about it either. The way I found out about it was because the link to here is posted and being widely discussed on the DAoC VN boards. And I imagine this site is getting lots of new hits directly from those VN board links.

Its kinda ironic, the people who wtfcheat get off while the innocent get suspended/banned.

I believe they stated on your email why you have been banned. check your email.

a buddy of mine got banned during the second round of bannings that went out. Actually it was a 7 day suspension so not a ban exactly. Now he was a regular user of both major radra programs but had stopped using them before nf. I still think mythic is just randomly suspending those that have several appeals in their system.

Has anyone ever had access to your account ?

is it possible someone loaded up your account with cheats that your unaware of ? like someone using it as a buffbot or doing a transfer etc ?

Mythic has a database full of appeals sorted by various words or phrases (mainly phrases with cheating, hacking, etc in them). They are again later sorted and grouped against the probable offending player/players. Constant appeals against a player denotes investigation and/or suspension for a week without investigation to see if the appeals on that account will stop after the seven day period.

Of course they are going to suspend you on suspecion only. And what are you going to do about it, sue them?

Mythic and players combined have the capability to harass you and suspend accounts at will, whether you are innocent or not. Every now and then, they make the mistake suspending accounts that are innocent of cheating, but rarely do they bann accounts that are innocent. The downside to this is now the innocent have a mark on their account as being suspended that can be used against them later if appeals start to stack up again and/or if mythic can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are cheating.

Oh and btw, DAOC is more stable today and Mythic has paid off most of their debts accumilated to originally develop and sustain this game. They have more people working for them and can easily afford to drop the 10 to 15% of you using third party programs.

If you did get banned, look on the bright side. World of Warcraft, Everquest 2 and other popular online game series will be released soon and DOAC will probably loose a large percentage of their customer base. Maybe it was just your time to move on.
