This page has some info on how Realm Points work. But the question is how accurate is this information?



A: I doublechecked with the programmer known for the moment as Red Daddy. Here was his response:



The Knowledge Base article is correct in broad strokes. Here's the breakdown from the code:



1) Figure out who all had a hand in killing the target and how much they ( or their group ) contributed

2) Figure out how much the target was worth max

a. This takes level, realm rank, Champion Level and Master level into account

3) Based on your level and those of the other attackers vs. that of the target and your ( or your group’s ) contribution, figure out how many RPs you will get

4) Apply any relic, population or other bonuses

5) Award the result



Note the following:

1) If your target was recently killed she may be worth reduced or no RPs

2) If you have used a corpse summoner recently, you cannot gain RPs

3) If the target is too far below you in level, you do not gain RPs

4) If the target took too much PvE damage compared to PvP damage, you will not gain RPs

5) If you were recently killed, you will earn reduced RPs

6) If you are dead, you will receive reduced RPs





Q: Why is it that you can't summon your horse while in Shade Form... and if you’re ON your horse and turn to Shade Form it kicks you off your horse? Intended or bug?



A: Edited because we are monkeys and misread the question, making the original answer wrong.



From Designing Goddess: You can indeed summon your mount while in necromancer shadeform. You ride around as the ghost, your pet follows behind. We put some code in place during DR launch to allow the pet to keep up.

The Shades of Mist "shadeform" puts you into combat, which disallows you from summoning a mount.





Q: A guildmate of mine is absolutely convinced that Dex/Quick affects your Vampiir parry/evade rates (claiming that his lurikeen vamp evades/parries more than his shar vamp). He claims that it was posted in a previous grab bag that stats DO in fact affect vamp parry/evade rates, but I was unable to find that post.



Is he telling the truth or just making things up?



A: After this many years, there’s lots of stuff in old grab bags. The only old grab bag *I* could find said Q: How does item X affect my Vampiir's chance to evade? A: I sent this to the content team, who sent it to Code Ed to be certain, and finally, this email came to me: "According to Code Ed the Wise, Vampiir parry and evade rates are a flat percentage, and are unaffected by item bonuses. That was dated March 2005.



I went and checked with Mighty Marty just to be sure nothing had changed since that point. He confirmed for me that nothing, including Dex/Qui, affects the parry or evade rates of a Vampiir.





Q: Why is the Winged Helm more expensive to repair than other artifacts that I own?



A: Each artifact is assigned a value, and the value determines the cost of repair. Mad Martin the Items Man double checked to be sure that nothing had gotten screwed up by accident, and tells me that the Guard of Valor, Alvarus’s Leggings, and the Winged Helm all have the same value and therefore the same repair cost.





Q: Did you guys change the drop rate on abrogo stones in PoC with the new patch?



A: As you all know, I don’t consider these questions a waste of time because things have happened in the past. But double checking reveals that no, this one stayed the same. The drop rate is just very, very low, and if you got them more often in the past, you were just due for a streak of bad luck.

We removed the timers this week. Our experiment on the Tintagel cluster proved that the incidence of cheating did not rise, that more players stay to defend than switch sides for a hollow “win,” and that the only people being hurt were the honest people who only have three hours to play at any given time. Your friends in CS will investigate any appeals regarding cross teaming, as always.



We will also investigate harassment appeals from Level One Wonders who log in solely to whine at you for being better than they are. But remember – you must take certain steps. You must tell the harasser to go away. You must place the harasser on /ignore. You must appeal and understand that we will investigate, but that we may not talk to you directly and we certainly can’t tell you what we do to the jerkface who harassed you.



So, if you were wondering why the Agramon and Cathal Valley bonuses, it’s to try and make up for the downtime this week. Lori, the producer who had the idea and made it happen, actually had much grander plans, but our system wouldn’t let her do what she wanted. Looks like we may be building her some tools after the expansion launches. Thanks are due to the PVP TL, who gently reminded us to do something that would better benefit the members of Mordred and Gaheris.

The #1 Fan videos we’ve received so far are terrific but I have to admit, none are really head and shoulders above the others (though I’ve got my sentimental favorite). The prize pack – including a Razer mouse pack, a free lifetime account (you tell us your account name, we make it free), a special in-game title, and more – is definitely still up for grabs.
