I am currently looking for a nice compiler for VB. I am just starting to learn VB and would appreciate any help that I could get from all the coders out there. Thanks

Visual Basic is the only thing I know of offhand that can compile VB. I've never seen any other program that could compile it. It's not like C++ where you have Borland C++, GNC, VC++.. its just VB :)

Well I suppose you could consider QBASIC another Basic compiler, but it could not do anything with VB code.

What about Visual Studio 6?

Visual Studio 6 is nothing but a collection of the different Visual programming languages. It has Visual Basic, C++, FoxPro, and I believe InterDev, maybe Visual J++ as well but that might of been part of Studio .NET that I saw that.

If you are wanting to learn VB I would not recommend spending that much money on Visual Studio 6 unless you planned to learn some of the other languages as well. You'd be better off just buying a copy of Visual Basic 6 Professional Edition.

Visual studio 6 does include Visual basic 6.

Why not just use scripting? Currently, you can do just about everything with scripts that you can with a compliled plugin.

I am just learning this stuff so im not sure what I need to do. My girlfriend which is a programmer advised I need a compiler. All I really want to do is learn how to code for Xunleashed and then maybe work my way into something more complicated.

I just assumed I needed a compiler to code for Xunleashed because of what my girlfriend told me.

As far as visual basic goes there's only 1 compiler, it's a microsoft product it's derivived from basic but the language is more or less just microsoft's creation, if your girlfriend is a programmer and in school you can pick up a copy of visual studio really cheap I suggest doing that. if you just wanna code for xunleashed then just stick with good 'ol notebad.
