Is EvE online worth joining? I am thinking about it as it looks really nice, would like to hear the pros and cons.

cobra12au (!empty($user->lang['WROTE'])) ? $user->lang['WROTE'] : ucwords(strtolower(str_replace('_', ' ', 'WROTE'))): Is EvE online worth joining? I am thinking about it as it looks really nice, would like to hear the pros and cons.
Pros:
Excellent Graphics - this is what kept bringing me back
Great Economy
Huge Universe - you can really find your corner of the universe and setup shop...build a mining operation....or stake out your territory and defend it...
Great PVP System if you want to get into it...
Time Based Skill training - Set the skill that'll take 2 days to train...log off...come back 2 days later with that skill trained...basically you can advance your character while not playing the game...if you solely want to advance your character you don't have to spend much time in game to do it...there is no grind to level in this game...it only takes time...during which you can be doing something in game or something else...
Player run universe
Cons:
Huge Timesink if you want to get the most out of it...
Open PVP system - Even if you choose to not be a part of pvp...that doesn't mean someone else won't choose to make you their target...high security space means they risk getting their ship blown to bits by concord...but that doesn't stop some people...
Player run universe - This is also bad because you can always run into asshats in the game...
IMO...it's a great game...I have aspirations of getting into it one day but for now I'm just training up my character and making money occasionally by mining.

It sure is worth it. Youre not bound to a certain class or profession. Had enough of mining? Go become a pirate. Had enough of killing? go make some stuff.. Also, there is no end. WoW ends at lvl 60, there is no going beyond that except gathering gear. Eve just keeps on going.

WoW doesn't end at 60, there's still 9 other classes to play. And to get each character in raiding gear that would take 2-3 years, and by then they've come out with 2+ expacs with 10 patches or so. WoW starts at 60. PvP, Raiding, Exploring. It's not just a game about gimme lootz =).

But EVE takes longer believe me, i think you will need more than 10 years to train all the skills to maximum, and there are tons of possibilities to fit your ship...

EVE is the MMO of choice for me. The biggest pro over other MMOs (say, WoW for instance) is that you don't have to choose a certain class or profession and be limited in what you can do. Sure, you focus on one are only and you'll be more successful at it, but any character can become and do anything you want. If, halfway through a mining career, you decide you want to be a PvPer instead. No problem. Just train the new skills and your laughing.

Yea EVE is giant. However the downside to eve is you have to play it ALOT to be good. The game requires alot of time sensitive things in it.

Eve online is worth every penny to me, its original (i mean how many mpporpgs are out now that are the olden dies and all swords and goblins and stuff) its player driven with an excellent market, the servers are maintained everyday, space jsut looks absolutley stunning and a hell o lot o people play it i think the record is 35,000 people on at one point and yes that is on one server and also hardly any lag the only time you will get lag is in a 500 ship battle or mabey when a titan detonates a doomsday then your screwed
plus if you are going to get it, it's nest if you get the 90 day time code instead of paying the subscription it cost me about £20 for 90 days where as its about £15 a month

i say join, 100%, or at least play the trial and see if you like it. if you dont, no harm done, it was free, if you do then u just got 2 weeks of free training. just like all the others have said, there is literally no end to what you can do in eve. just because u start with an industrial character doesnt mean ur stuck with mining forever, or vice versa. you can go from pvp to mining with no downfalls, lol except no more killmails. all in all tho its got something for pretty much everyone.
