requires 3 friends, 2 in frigates one to lock down an indy the other to kill it
the third in a indy to loot the cargo

heres how it works. the two guys in frigates camp a gate in "safe" space cargo scanning all the indys that pass through. if they spot one with a lot of isk's worth of goods on it they lock it down and destroy it while there friend in the indy ship swings in and loots the cans.
This is not classed as an exploit by CCP as it costs you the frigates that attack, but 2 frigates for perhaps a indy full of BP's/tech 2 etc is nothing.


Dead easy.

use a destroyer it can take out a t1 indy in 1 volley of 8 x 150mm's or similar

this is wrong, in my opinion. if u kill the ship in empire space, u will get killed down by concord for sure, actually, u will not have the cance to take down the indi unleast u have great weapons. this means expensive fitting. also, with u'r other char, when u take the loot from the cargo remained, u will be killed also, as it is still a criminal flag. so ... think twice

There is a huge thread in the Eve-Online General forums now about a guy who was foolish enough to bring a full load of Megacyte into Rens with a shield tanked Itty5. He had a escort but they were no match for the 5 Megathrons waiting at the gate. Were the Maga's concorded? Yep. Was the load of Megacyte worth the loss of the BS's? Yep.

Faults mentioned:
If you can afford the Maga why use a indy5, should have used a frieghter or Tech2 hauler.
Ever heard of insta bookmarks?
Ever heard of a SCOUT?
and so on.......

Now with the new character changes you can put a brand new character in a cruise in a matter of a day. I saw a 2 day old character flying a Naval Caracal yesterday.. Kinda funny..

Anyhow onto the topic.

For this ganking you need a group of Kestrels with full standard missiles OR if you want to seriously gank someone and don't have enough people.. Do what I mentioned above and make a simple Caldari Alt that can fly a Caracal. It doesn't take very long. Load the Caracal down with cheap Heavy Missile launcher 1's and fire away when u scan out a good target. Simple. Sometimes this takes patience but hey.. suicide is great. Its also good to do with people undocking in Jita in that crazy lagfest. They don't load 1/2 the time for a while after they undock so just target and scan em. Find a bunch of faction loot? Sweet. Pop it. Find some BPOs? Sweet. Pop it.

Its even cheaper when you have a character with a Caracal BPO because u can make them for pennies.... or is it Iskies?

A Caracal with 5 heavy missiles can take down an industrial ship before Concord kills it? And how do you get to loot the wreck? Seems to me before you could get a new ship and make it back to the wreck the owner would have already recovered it or some random person will have already taken it.

OK Being an ore thief and Indy Ganker i had to reply to this thread. Some of these work on some indy's and some on others. I have seen Megathrons attempt to suicide miners and their haulers in the ice belts with Heavy Smart Bombs and only take them down to half armor. And that was from a player who had been around almost a year. The first thing you need to do is look at your suspected target. Most Indy's used by people who can afford expensive items are the Iteron Mark V. Look at the resists for both shield and armor. Then use the ammo best suited for the resists. Iterons will fall with nothing less then 5 Kestrels or Three destroyers with smart bombs Two Caracals or an armageddon with smart bombs. The Hauler is key. Keep him out of range of any smartbombs going off. LOL I have seen the hauler get wacked too. Once you find a setup that works against an Iteron then you will have the setup that can work on anyone.
