If you had an account it _might_ have qualified for the 45 day free "welcome back program" that SOE has going until August 31 2011

http://www.soe.com/securityupdate/welcomeback/

they had that security breach and shut everything down for 15? days so they are giving 30 days plus one day for each day shut down a total of 45 days...

it's a pretty big download so you might want to go to sony station log in think you can find a download link there

launcher download here-> http://launch.soe.com/everquest/

and you might want to take the time to do your mandatory password change then too as just doing that can lock your account for 24 hours

so anybody else reliving their past?

are there any other money making places than the hill giants in the mountains of rathe? http://almarsguides.com/eq/farming/1-49/rathe.cfm

I thought I remembered the hole as getting good coin but no

as mentioned elsewhere here -> hit claims and see if you have the gift of legacies lost which gives you:

Summons a Satchel of Legacies Lost, which contains 3: Package of Defiant Armor, 1 Scabbard of Hope, 10: Potion of Adventure, 10: Potion of Speed, and a Book of Knowledge.

I'll write up a new char strat using this gift/claim soon

even though you usually get the set one below your level lookk at the stats on this stuff then check the AH .... for 10k you can outfit a level 60 or so with the main 8 slots, plus there are two vendors by level that sell the face slot, earrings, rings, and neck items

you need to get the waist, shoulders, back, and rand secondary and range slot but have no fear search for adept and combatant as that can fill three of those then just search by slot for secondary and range and there is a defiant item for that slot...
and augmentations too..

everything but the charm slot

so after all the time spent getting your old gear sadly most of it won't be worth trying even to sell on the AH unless there are some good focus effects or it has a good "clickie" effect that leaves vendor selling it (oh noes) or using the tribute system http://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/EQ:Tribute

since I had friends leaving by the dozen back then to go to eq2 they stripped their accounts so I'm drowning in items 99% of which have no value (but bring back memories as I drooled over the stats which a level 5 crude defiant item might have better than a level 40 item)

oh you might notice your storage alts are missing when SOE merged the servers characters under level 10 were "purged" and since that might be where all your extra gear or crafting materials are, you are going to want them back

calling customer service, which is NOT toll free (trick-> if you have a gmail account call them free using the phone thingy) actually doesn't work you have to petition a GM and handle it by text

now you NEED to know the answer to your security question so that tip on calling CSR might be handy because you need that answer to change password, and I think once in getting to the place you "talk" to the GM

it REALLY helps them if you know the low levels name but be persistent if you don't remember but do look at any screenshots and in your ini file to see if any names pop out

also using http://eqplayers.station.sony.com/character_services.vm character name search might help....

this game gets regular updates 3 in June, 2 so far in July, paid expansions HoT what in February? and the next one in Nov so they do more than few games I play....

edit-> how did I forget mercenaries these will change your gamestyle as you are never alone and if you were a pet class now you are a small army http://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/eq:Mercenaries being mercenaries they are only there to help you for cash no cash no bash:) they charge every 15 minutes and they count as a group spot and take experience so if my memory is right a two person group gets a bonus (for being in a group) so a kill of a mob nets 120% exp but thats for two people so you each only get 60% you lose exp with a merc but can kill quicker/safer with one

my mage with a tank pet healer merc just mows stuff down, my necro with biggest pet and a damage dealing merc just dominates

so re-doing all your gear, re-learning how you fight a LOT of big changes

Yea it applies to all games. That was a good move on their part to get people back. EQ2 is getting a lot of love too ha.
